A two-day hiking trip with a very good old friend, since at least 25 years, to one of the largest MIREs in the South of Sweden, namely STORE MOSSE NATIONAL PARK, Blådöpet, of which likes you only can find up in the Northern parts of Sweden like Lappland and the FJÄLLEN for example. So needless to say we went to Store Mosse.
Store Mosse consists of a mosaic of raised bogs, fen, deciduous swamp woods and nutrient-poor lakes. The Site holds southern Sweden's most extensive mire complex and the country's largest active raised bog.

We arrived at lunchtime, took our time, had lunch and then headed out. As it is autumn it already started to get dark as the sunset set in. It was so quiet, so mysterious, so beauiful it to my breath away. At times the sun created such beauty that we both stood quiet in awe.
Se reached a part where the "plank" took us miles and miles into the wetlands, bog, mire, marsh ...I don't even know what we would call it in English. It was a marvellous experience.

My friend, now retired, is a geologist and bird watcher. We had some minor flooding of the trail, looked not to good a while but we continued, had a coffee and meal by the FatBoy lamp (which weighs nothing) in the darkness, it was far darker than it seems in the film. Have to give my camera a big plus for showing such good night vision! We heard, rather my friend heard moose around, typical moose territory, we where hoping to see them but nothing. It got really dark quick and the last hour we walked in "the night". Very mysterious, quiet and magic.

How to get here: It's situated right outside the town Värnamo, in Jönköpings Länd or also Småland. From Malmö it's about 2½ - 3 hours of driving.
