Next, do you find it hard being cooped up in an office working the nine to five grind?
If in fact you are cooped up in an office working the nine to five grind,
perhaps there's another way for those with the desire to seize it.
NTD's Daniel Monaghan spoke with a woman who works
remotely while traveling to exotic destinations in a rebuilt van with her fiancé.
Vendula Jakova was living in New Zealand seven years ago
when she got the urge to explore it on wheels.
So we kind of like for trial and error we built our first van that was in New Zealand
and we lived in the van for half a year.
Having a fiancé who is an engineer is a big plus.
YouTube videos helped with the rest.
This is our third van.
We built three different vans on three different continents.
Jakova and her fiancé detail their van adventures on Instagram
and a YouTube channel called Salty Van Ventures.
She works remotely as an HR manager for the Swiss company MapTiler.
I just really enjoy like to live my life in the way that I prefer like you know
like choosing what I'm doing in my free time and taking the work with me.
Working on the road has its challenges.
External issues that you have no control over like you know
the bad internet but also a lot of South America is very noisy.
So you know everyone playing reggaeton in their cars
and you're literally in the car park next to that person.
And they're all identical lane cruises four by four.
But the things and places she and her fiancé have experienced
have made the hard times well worth it.
In Bolivia, the pair reveled in the endless fields of white
in the world's largest salt flat.
An island of cacti protrudes stubbornly from the plantless expanse.
Other treats awaited them at elevations of over 14,000 feet near the Chilean border.
We arrived at this beautiful lake surrounded by volcanoes with hundreds of flamingos.
All they do all day is just eat.
At over 16,000 feet, they warmed up from the frigid temperatures in the thermal geysers.
More relief was on the way.
Our biggest dream came true from minus 12 to hot springs.
What else do you want?
In Peru, the migrating whales come so close to shore you can nearly swim out to them.
The pair took a lesser traveled route to Machu Picchu
called the Salcantay Trek, which takes five days.
Jacoba says the majestic wildlife of the Galapagos Islands was a special treat,
while Patagonia was the experience of a lifetime,
full of breathtaking wildlife and unique animals like king penguins and others.
There are parts of South America like Patagonia where I actually took months off
because I was like there's no way where I'll be like climbing around
and trying to find that one bar on your phone.
So I definitely kind of planned around that.
Always keeping busy, Jacoba also teaches others how to live life on the road
through her company, Nomadica Digital.
As for the future, Jacoba and her soon-to-be husband just remodeled a house in Australia,
but she still definitely sees more traveling on the horizon.
