Are you looking for a green smoothie
that is gonna help with your skin issues?
Well, I have it right here,
and it's only four ingredients, and they're all natural.
Hey there, it's Jen from Simple Green Smoothies,
and today we are going to make
my spa cleanser green smoothie recipe,
which is all about healing your skin from the inside out.
A lot of times we try to put stuff on our skin,
makeup, medication, to try to suppress
the acne that's coming out,
but what you really have to do is start from the inside
and start eating foods
that are gonna help your body naturally,
and your skin is the largest organ in your body,
and when it's having acne issues,
it's usually for hormones,
it's also because of the food sensitivities,
so today we're really gonna focus on that
by using four ingredients that are gonna help you so much.
So the first thing we're gonna add
to our smoothie is spinach.
Spinach has tons of fiber,
and fiber is one of the most important things
to helping you get glowing skin.
So what happens is if you don't have enough fiber
in your diet, your digestive system slows down,
and it means everything moves slower through it,
and all the toxins that are in there are slowed down
and absorbed back into your body,
and then they come out through your skin.
So if you are just having some serious skin issues,
and your digestive system is slow,
maybe you're constipated, something like that,
try adding in more fiber
by adding spinach to your smoothies.
The second ingredient we're gonna do is coconut water.
So I'm gonna do one cup of coconut water.
I wanted to show you a few brands that I like,
because the key is making sure your coconut water
does not have any added sugar to it.
Sugar is one of the main things that happens
that hurts our skin,
and so we are making sure that everything we're doing
is all natural, no sugar added,
because we want our skin to be glowing, right?
So Zico's a great brand, it's just pure coconut water.
Bite of Cocoa Original, don't do the flavored ones,
those have some funky stuff in it, just do this one.
And then Harmless Harvest is a really great brand too,
it's just really expensive, so I like to drink that one,
but I like to blend with these other two.
Now we're gonna add one cup of frozen pineapple.
So pineapple is our natural sweetener.
So, mm, and it's good.
To get me excited to drink smoothies
and just really get the whole thing down,
it has to taste good.
And pineapple is such a refreshing way to do it,
and it also has bromelain in it.
And bromelain is a great way
when you have been in the sun too long,
it helps heal your skin.
So it's almost like a natural sun relief ingredient too.
So that's why it's in here.
And we're also using the whole fruit, if you notice.
We're not doing pineapple juice,
because that's high in sugar.
We're using the whole pineapple, which has the fiber,
because we're trying to up our fiber,
and it's also gonna slow down the absorption of the sugar,
the fruit sugars, into your body.
So it's not gonna cause acne flare-ups
or anything like that.
It's just gonna give you the right amount of energy
and the best taste too, so it's really a win-win.
The last ingredient is avocado.
We are gonna do half of an avocado.
So I cut it in half, and then I cut it in a quarter.
It's really hard to find a perfectly ripe avocado,
and today I got lucky.
So look how beautifully it peels.
So I'm not wasting any of that delicious fruit.
And get the whole thing.
Avocado is high in healthy fats,
which is great for your skin too,
but not all fats are created equal.
So stay away from the trans fats, the highly refined fats,
which are really gonna hurt your body.
So you're gonna wanna use organic unrefined coconut oil,
avocado oil, avocado.
Things like that are skin foods,
and it's gonna help you glow.
It's gonna help you maintain the moisture in your skin
so your skin glows.
And also avocado has vitamin E,
which is known as the beauty skin vitamin.
So we've got a lot of that in here.
All right, we are gonna blend it all up.
All right, I think that's good.
So what I do, when I'm looking at it,
if you're wondering why does she keep looking,
I'm looking for leafy chunks
because I don't want any leafy chunks in my smoothie.
So if I see it, I blend longer.
All right, and now watch this pour, you guys.
This is a thick, delicious smoothie for your skin.
Oh my gosh, it looks so good.
It's refreshing.
It's got the pineapple, the coconut in it.
It's great by the pool.
If you get sunburned by the pool, just drink this, baby.
There you have it.
If you need a smoothie that's gonna help your skin,
this is it right here.
Drink one a day.
I usually recommend having it for breakfast
so that all of the nutrients can be absorbed into your body
before you add in anything else for the day.
