We finally got here at Lake Minnewanka. We had a late checkout from the hotel today.
So through the loop road from Bath it took us about 10 to 12 minutes to get here
and finding a parking was a bit of a challenge because it's almost noontime we got here.
So I'm just gonna go for a washroom here. This is for the gents.
And this is usually a pit toilet as usual in parks.
Now heading to the dock with Marjorie and Theo.
They actually have boat rentals here and canoe rentals as well.
And diving. Can you imagine there's diving happening here in the cold frigid water?
And we're just gonna ask these two guys here where we can buy our ticket for the boat and get our snacks from here.
Sayabada
Signature sandwich
Special. Black Angkor signature sandwich for you as well.
Yeah, this is. I don't know because this used to be.
Yeah, well this lake has a lot of stories behind it.
It has a rich history about it.
So ticket, ma'am?
Sorry, we're lucky.
Okay, so at 12.45 you line up in the green line from the outside.
Okay, green line?
Green line, please.
Okay, that's for the boarding lanes?
Yeah.
Okay, thank you so much.
Thank you.
Did you find something interesting?
So we have our boarding pass for the boat cruise.
So we're gonna be lining up on the green line.
And you guys got row 13. That'll be on the right-hand side.
Merci beaucoup.
No problem. Merci beaucoup. Bienvenue.
Here we go. Wow.
Do you want to be next to the window?
Wow, it's so nice.
For the little ones on board, if anybody weighs under 90 pounds,
life jackets in this compartment right here at the front,
I can hand those out in the case of an emergency.
I encourage you, no talking, no movement.
Close your eyes and really experience your senses out here in the backcountry.
I'll count us down in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
That moment of silence was such an incredible experience.
We never had anything like that.
Especially we were in the middle of the lake,
surrounded by the rockets with the glaciers.
It was just so incredible.
Now we're back here at the dock,
and it took us more than half an hour,
I would say close to an hour,
including the 10-minute quiet time in the middle of the lake.
This is such a great experience.
And it's being said that out of the people or visitors
coming to visit Banff, Canmore, and the Icefield Parkway,
only 10% of them go as far as here in Lake Minnewanka.
And that makes us feel so privileged to be able to come out here.
For the canoe and kayak enthusiasts,
wow, these are like birch paddles, I don't know.
This is just very nice.
And for the kayaks right here.
And I just want to make a note of what the staff there on the boat,
the tour guide, was saying.
This pile of rocks, that's actually where the dam was built before,
when the Calgary Electric Power Company came to make the dam.
And that was for electricity generation.
And apparently I've read that it causes the water level to rise up significantly
and sank the original town center here.
Water is so clear, like everywhere you go.
As far as this water, it's always crystal clear.
This is a glacial water, so it will always be clear.
Icy cold as well.
There, like ahead of us.
This is going back up.
There's a cafe over there.
There's flowers.
You know, when you see this kind of view,
it's a little bit giving a feeling of the tropics.
Some flowers on the beach.
Going back to the cafe.
We'll just wait here.
We'll find something to eat here.
I know.
Come you lovers and head my way.
Always looking for a new day.
I will fight for my right to be right here where you stay.
