Ranked outside the top 100. Ended last season actually ranked 140 in the world so it's been a
good advancement. Yeah good stuff. And I mentioned like 100 players and Harriet Dart is one of those
who does have his works with Harriet as her agent. And Darden Lauterbach who's the physio of Diana
Schneider. Yeah well done. Well she made a fight for it doing that first match on court here
today as well. Conditions a little different. Maybe the ball flying a little further.
But as I said third match on these courts. Yeah well played. With more power.
It was a good return but second shot in the rally. And it's gone long.
Just the wrong side of the line and it will go to deuce.
Two first serves out of nine so far. Therein lies the problem for Harriet Dart.
A lot of spin on that ball on the return to set up a first break point here for Schneider.
At the start of the match it's so important that Harriet Dart
makes a good start. And you can hear the frustration that she's feeling.
Well no problems. Has improved her serve. It's one of the reasons why she's been able to get
into and stain the top 100. It's still not the biggest weapon on tour by any means. And
another double fault there. He would feel at his place to interfere and say something.
Great return. And again not for the first time. Good return and follows up poorly.
Oh brilliant. There's that forehand unleashed. Power drive down the line. So a chance here for
Schneider. And didn't get over the top of it. And you can see the frustration for Harriet Dart.
Harriet Dart frustrated with herself very much here. When picking up again you may be able to
tell on our effects microphone. Had a few things blowing over earlier. Again just getting a timing
wrong to an evident fury here. A little gift. So that's unfortunate. Quite the accuracy. Young
rising star. Super return. Three break points here for a 5-1-2 break lead. Oh lovely play.
Cut the sidelines beautifully with a well-disguised cross-court forehand.
And a very good recovery. Probably three of the four batters have hit the target.
Needs more accuracy on that. Another quality return off a very good first serve. Sixty deep.
Almost a body serve but just sorted a foot footwork out quickly enough.
So having recovered from love 40 Harriet Dart has any.
On again it involves Haddad Jumeirah. He's been involved in a few over the years hasn't she?
Only just starting the final set. Oh it's good. Break points for Harriet Dart coming up here.
And the error is forced with a good deep return to take the break. So gets one of
the breaks back here. The releasing net is wrapped up a 6-3-6-1. Win over qualifier Katie
Volonets. Serving for the opening set right now. Just occasionally less the frustration
mounts for Harriet Dart. Yeah very well played from Harriet Dart there. That came almost right
at her feet but still got a really quality shot in. Oh that's class from Harriet Dart.
Well that's ambitious. Got a physio with her here this week. You'll a glimpse of him there.
Sebastian Lauterbach. See heavy strapping on that knee. Has been for a while.
She knew as soon as she hit that it was locked. I think we all did.
So another set point. Oh wow. Well recovered well. Excellent point. Janna Schneider showing
the sort of form that's taken. Outside the top 100 in the world. Now ranked 24 in the world.
Bidding to go higher. The serve is just. She did this once before.
Yeah it's going wide. Oh it's not. I think the wind brought that back in. It looked like it was.
Having lost that first set could he'll afford to lose serve here.
Better from Schneider. Four hands working perfectly now.
Only at the end of the 2022 season that she managed to break into the top 200.
The bandana has become her trademark really hasn't it. She's
has worn it ever since childhood days.
Schneider only played her. Ended up losing to Palabodosa. It's good from Harriet Dart.
That's beautiful. Not at this venue in Montreal in 21.
Now that's good. So she avoids further damage. Gets her first.
Back in 2018 in Oslo. I only mention that because in the final she beat Palabodosa
in this match. First point saved nicely. Harriet Dart does make the break.
30. That's superb. Brilliant play from Dart finding in qualifying.
She's already guaranteed herself a few more points on the rankings.
Oh that's unfortunate for her isn't it. Schneider with a huge stroke of luck. Harriet Dart in the
live rankings is up to 74 now which would be a new career high. And were she to win this one
would move inside the top 70. Feeling her best throughout the match. Townsend was already a break
a set up as well. Good from Schneider including the qualifying rounds. Even though she was
eliminated there as a lucky loser. Gonna have 10 places in the rankings.
Automated calling of course here. That's astonishing. What a shot from that position
but then soon the point was going away from her.
Yeah wrong footed it. Nicely done.
More remarkable is how Harriet Dart has cut out the unforced error. 16 in the first set for her.
Just two in this set so far. Chances. I was just thinking Harriet Dart with good defense there.
Two break points for a 5-3 lead. And she doesn't even need to lift her racket. Harriet Dart to
assure herself of that lead. At times Schneider has been ruthless against this second serve.
Oh and Dart back to her old ways I'm afraid. Two doubles at this in the fourth. Huge point now.
Oh good serve and a lovely plus one. Had a lot of time to think about that comparatively.
It's over on court one. As they reach the three hour mark now.
Harachmaya could not finish that game and it's five all now. Can she serve for the match?
Dart coming back well with two very... Yeah too weak on the serve. Too timid.
Messing about from Schneider this time and she will have a break point.
Second serve again. Unable to convert the point. Break point. A few self-doubts. A little bit off
best today but we kind of did expect that. Sorry to labor the point but transatlantic flight.
Change from the clay courts to here. And the momentum swing continues.
Well that's quality and sets up two. Has saved 11 break points so far. Harriet Dart out of 14.
12 out of 15 now. Second break point. All the mistake from Harriet Dart and the hard
except by the look of it. 5-1 second set to the Canadian.
Well strangely it's been broken once and now faces more break points. So much spin on that
second serve. It was a good... Classy winner down the line on the backhand from Harriet Dart
to snatch the lead. Still... Yeah brilliant. Dart just let her move inside onto the forehand.
Probably 40. Oh well played. That was very tough. A lot of space from there between herself and the net.
Also probably looking into the sun. Yeah picked out of the sky very well. Good timing. Again
laying it up on the forehand. If you're playing it there it has to be with more depth. More width
but right there. Well played Harriet Dart. Yeah she knew when she played that block return but
not yet. It's three over on court four. That was good defense and just hoping that Megan Schneider
hit one. Bravely went cross court on the backhand. Her point of view already eight in this set.
39 in the match opposed to 25 from Harriet Dart. Unlucky well judged drop shot.
It's Jeff Van Wong. Won't be easy for her. Just a little bit harder. Offers a hunt.
So another point for 3-3. 100.
Five WTA finals. Four of them at 250 level and above plus the one in Paris at 125.
And four titles.
Three in a decider.
But it is another. Cavaliers microphone has stopped working I think. Another unforced error
from Schneider. Oh well played. Won't be a love game. Dart can afford to concede that point.
Mind you I dare say none of them are traveling cattle class like me. Too many errors.
It's getting to the stage now where any mistake could be crucial isn't it?
It's the dreaded ninth game in the third.
Yeah typical. It was very low. It was much higher. Wow not the time for that. Second of this set.
I've got decent depth Harriet Dart but it sat up.
You see how she's desperate to get it on the.
Not enticed too many supporters into this court today this match.
But it's their loss. It's turning into a really intriguing battle.
Understandable as a Canadian with Schneider in the doubles in the Paris Olympics.
So the mistake from Schneider again. Wow what a great hit that was.
Fantastic stuff from Harriet Dart.
So oh she'll run and run but Schneider was just too good for her. Again first break point save.
Credit to both players not giving up on the point.
Schneider. Oh that's a bad miss. Breakback points. Six five. Oh Schneider do it again.
Great character to break straight back. Harriet's not finished yet. I mentioned that final set tie
break against Katie Bolter that Harriet won at Wimbledon. She hasn't played a tie break since.
Again forehand it was a little short for sure.
