玛哈泰寺被考古学家推论为素可泰王朝（公元1238年－1438年） 的行政与信仰中心
而素可泰王朝为泰族创立的第一个帝国
公元1767年，大城遭缅甸军入侵毁坏，放火焚烧寺庙佛像，
王朝终至灭亡，仅留下断垣残壁，所剩余的完整佛像寥寥无几

今天，在这里，漫步在历史的残垣断壁中
在肆意滋生的藤蔓和青苔中
静心感受，便可以窥见那曾经的神谕之地，听见信仰的细碎低语

而整个遗迹中，最出名的便是那颗被树根缠绕的佛头

We walked into the ruins of the oldest dynasty in Thailand with documented history.
Wat Mahathat is inferred by archaeologists as the administrative and religious center of the Sukhothai Dynasty (1238-1438 AD)
The Sukhothai Dynasty was the first empire founded by the Thai people.
In 1767 AD, the city was invaded and destroyed by the Burmese army, and temples and Buddhist statues were set on fire.
The dynasty eventually fell, leaving only ruins and few intact Buddha statues.

Today, here, strolling among the ruins of history

The most famous thing among the entire ruins is the Buddha's head wrapped by tree roots.
