We start today’s vlog by waking up in the van on the edge of a giant windy neon blue lake. We headed towards the nearest rest stop for coffee and made our way back into Banff National Park. It was still very smoky from the wildfires on this drive. That is until we reached the little town of Field B.C in Yoho National Park after the craziest roads through the mountains. The location of Field is simply spectacular. Quietly nestled in the Kicking Horse valley, surrounded by monstrous mountains along the shallow braids of the Kicking Horse River. We toured the town and got stuck behind trains a couple times. Field B.C started as a tent post along the railway and became the home of the first hotel developed by Canadian Pacific Railways in BC! Next, we headed into Yoho National Park to visit one of the most amazing natural sights we’ve ever seen in our lives, Emerald Lake.
Thanks for watching! 😄
We upload a new adventure 3 times a week while we travel, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Noon ET!

👩❤️👨US: We met at LaSalle Secondary School in Kingston Ontario and we’ve been together for over 8 years now. Keith comes from a bilingual military family and Devon from a Kingston family of teachers. We made it through Queen’s University together where Keith studied Mechanical Engineering and Devon, Concurrent Education and Global Development. Right now we’re travelling across Canada in a Dodge Caravan for the entire month but come January 2022 we have bigger plans in mind. Our goal is to #travel full time, become #selfemployed, and #explore the world while sharing what we’ve learned and capturing our experiences. 🌎✈️📚
It's windy. Uh, we probably can't make coffee here.
So we're going to go to Saskatchewan crossing,
which is about 40 minutes from here and then head towards Bow Lake where we
were yesterday for the hike. It's a bit of a windy one. Let's go.
It's still very smoky in this area. The masks help with the smoke.
So that's why I'm wearing them. We made it to the crossing.
So we are going to go get coffee, which I'm so excited about.
And then we're going to keep driving towards Bow Lake and kind of play it by
ear. If it's really smoky, we might just keep going and do something else.
Yeah. We'll see where the day takes us because funky wildfire weather.
Back in the car, heading towards Bow Lake. Fingers crossed.
Things get better with the smoke. Keith's driving now. Off we go.
That was Bow Lake that we just passed. As you may have saw in the vid,
it's a little lot smoky still here.
So we are going to hit the hike on the way back and hope that it's less smoky
because it's getting to Keith's head a little bit.
We want to see those falls and the Glacier Lake.
So we're definitely going to make a pit stop on the way home.
When you're doing a loop and you have to come back the same way. It's awesome.
So instead what we're going to do is we're going to Golden today anyway.
So we're going to stop in Field. My parents used to live there.
So check that place out,
go to Emerald Lake and wherever else we decide to stop on this road trip.
We're in Field. Look how beautiful this is!
We've been in smoke for a bit and just seeing these mountains is so incredible.
And fresh air. This is Kicking Horse River.
And apparently when Andre and Lori, Devon's parents, lived here,
they could mountain bike down the middle. Which is really cool.
So we're going to go explore the town of Field,
try and find their house and then make our way to Emerald Lake.
Oh, I'm just so happy to be here. It's so beautiful. Look at this.
It's hot. Is it actually warm? Yeah.
I think a train's been through these parts. Now, based on my, uh,
my intuitive. Well, it is warm. Yeah. I think there was a train.
Here a train a coming. It's rolling down.
I ain't seen the sunshine since. I don't know when.
Field began as a tent settlement in 1883 as railway construction pushed
westward from Kicking Horse Pass. Within a few years,
permanent buildings had replaced tents.
This is where my parents used to live. This was their home.
They said it was a brown shed. This looks a lot nicer.
So maybe someone redid it since they lived here. And now traffic on our way out.
We're stuck in traffic. Good traffic though. Train traffic.
That took forever. Another day, another sandwich. In my case, another two.
Now we're off to Emerald Lake. We made it.
Check this out. It's so beautiful.
There's a loop about 5.3 kilometers. Exactly. That just follows the lake.
So that's what we're going to do now. Fun fact.
Originally Lake Louise was called Emerald Lake.
And then they found this lake and had to change the name of Lake Louise.
Cause this was more Emerald than Lake Louise.
I can't believe this is real. Like it's just these purple flowers,
these massive mountains. Like, I can't believe this is real.
That is all.
So we have not made it very far on our walk before we decided to sit down.
Because we just cannot get over this view. It's so magical.
This is like one of the best views I've ever seen in my life. No kidding.
So we haven't yet on this trip,
but we're going to take a break and do some meditation in this very spot.
We just passed the halfway point and we've been on this trail for a long time.
It's about 5.10. So it's taking us a while cause it's so pretty.
We just want to capture everything. We do have to get to Golden tonight.
So we're going to try and I think actually walk the second half of this trail.
Yeah. Speed walk. Go.
All right. So we're leaving now. We made it to the end of the lake.
We did the full circle.
It was so beautiful as we've said a million times. Yeah.
We've said that a million times. It was jaw dropping.
You have to come to Emerald Lake if you're in the area doing this, this trip.
Or just not. Just come here either way. Yeah. Today was a lovely day.
Unexpected because we didn't know what was going to happen.
And we found a spot that was less smoky and it was beautiful.
So we're going to end our video here because we just have some driving left to
do. Make it to Golden, see Jack and Meg. And it's about 40 minutes away.
I think an hour. We don't have service. We don't know.
We'll maybe get some food or something. Some snacks for the road.
So thank you for watching. See you tomorrow or the next day. We'll see.
Probably tomorrow. Maybe. We'll see.
See you later.
