Watch This Before You Hike Joffre Lakes (Camping at the Most Beautiful Lake Near Vancouver)

What's up guys? Today we are at Joffrey Provincial Park and we're hiking one of the most popular trails in British Columbia. This trail is going to take us up to Joffrey Lake. It's the viral photo spot that you see online, super blue lake, and we're going to be camping there for the night. Okay, what's cool about this hike is there's actually three lakes. We're already going to be passing the first one and then visiting Middle Lake and camping at Upper Lake. So there's lots of beautiful blue views for us to see on this trail. So we've done this trail plenty of times, we know exactly what to expect. It's about seven kilometers, I think, up to our campground. We're going to rip up in hopefully less than two hours and enjoy a beautiful summer day in BC. There's where we started. We've almost made it up to the Middle Lake. That's pretty much all the elevation going up those stairs. It's frigging brutal. Anyways, we're about to catch our first view of the lake. It's going to be beautiful. So that was Middle Lake that we just went by. And it's probably my favorite, the most blue, but it gets really, really busy. So we're just going to continue up to camp, set up camp, and we'll have lots of other chances to come down and see it. So for now, up to the camp we go. Ooh. We are just finishing setting up camp. We made it and it is beautiful up here. I should also say, Draw Free Lakes is such a strict permit system. They've got a permit system in place for day passes and for campgrounds. Do you know how many sites are at this campground? We're going to look up how many camp spots there are available to reserve, but we can see six tent pads behind us. Those are really cool. I wish we were here a little bit earlier so we got one. And then the rest of the spots are all kind of gravel. There's a bear cache over here somewhere. There's also an outhouse. Back country paradise. What can I say? Anyway, most sought after passes. We're lucky we got a last minute cancellation. Definitely the most beautiful, popular hike near Vancouver. So if you're in the city, this is the hike you need to do. Seriously, if you're visiting Vancouver, this is my number one recommendation. Go do Draw Free Lakes and go see the three beautiful lakes. And if you're lucky, like us, get a camp spot the night before. Oh, Jake's pointing up to Draw Free Glacier as well. We've hiked up there. Maybe we should go up there for sunset, eh? Anyway, this is one of BC's best, so it's epic that we got a camp spot here and it's going to be a really good night. Smile. Jake with the famous noodles and beef jerky. I'm telling you guys, it's so good after a hike. A little bit of salt. Alright guys, we had an awesome little meal. We are heading up to a little viewpoint above the campground. The views are already insane. The lake looks so blue with the golden light and this is going to be a crazy view from up here. So for dinner we have some Mexican rice. It's one of those little side kicks that you get at the grocery store. Anyways, it's going to go on a tortilla with some more beef jerky and then we have some nice Costco cookies for dessert. Yum. Good morning guys, I just whipped up some coffee and it is a beautiful sunrise here at Draw Free Lakes. It looks like we're going to get lots of sun today and Marie's still sleeping down there. We're just going to have our coffee, start to pack up slowly and then we still haven't shown you guys much of the upper and middle lakes so that's what the majority of today is going to be. We'll pack up our stuff and go enjoy the middle couple lakes. They're the most beautiful part of the hike so we're really excited and it'll be pretty quiet with the day hikers, they won't really be in yet. The mornings are always my favorite time here and you'll really see the blue colors pop today. Breakfast of champs, you know what it is, oats and banana. Okay, so we just packed up and left our campground around 8am. I have to say, this campground is kind of difficult to navigate. Most of the trail up to Draw Free Lakes is really straightforward until you get to the third lake and for some reason the campers have to suffer. Anyway, it's just a lot of rocks and roots. To get to the outhouse you literally have to boulder climb which is really not convenient, especially if you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. We're just taking it easy, going to go check out third lake on the other side of the camp, go check out middle lake, watch the sun come and hit the lakes and then we're going to get out of here. Well guys, middle lake is probably my favorite. It's so blue here during the middle of the day and 9 o'clock is probably my favorite time. Really beautiful, we have one more lake to show you, it's the first lake and then that's going to be it. So that was really fun, I got my famous lake shot for like the fifth year in a row. Anyway, it's a gorgeous day out. We should probably only be getting down within like 45-30 minutes. Pretty quick hike down. Yeah, we're going to be really quick with this one. Let's go. Well guys, we just showed you three of the most beautiful lakes in British Columbia and we ended with the lower lake there. That's only like let's say 500 meters from the parking lot so we just gave you a quick look at that but those are truly the most beautiful lakes in BC. I've never seen a lake that is that bright blue and the best time to see them is peak summer. This is what, August 12th? It was gorgeous, the weather was perfect and it was a great backtracking trip.
