Tennis Forehand Drills | How To Crush The Forehand!!!
Here we discuss how you can make more winners from the back of the court, on your forehand side, by maximising the topspin effect.
Make sure you are using the correct grip. The semi western forehand grip is the one that we recommend for the best balance between power and spin (the eastern and full western grips are also other alternatives). However, the chopper grip is not encouraged in the slightest.
Make sure you have a steep swing path to allow the strings to really brush up the back of the ball to create the topspin.
Do not decelerate into the forward swing. Doing so will reduce the amount of topspin you are able to generate. More racket head speed (provided you are using the correct grip and applying the right shape) will produce more topspin.
The same side follow through, will take away from the power of the shot, but it will create a lot of spin; ideal for certain match scenarios ie. when your opponent is approaching or when you want to open the court by finding sharp angles.
Take into account the type of strings and racket you are using. This can add to giving you that extra 5-10% of topspin you may need to elevate your game,
If you apply all of these five points, you will start to see how much more topspin you can generate, which in turn, allows you to hit the ball harder with more velocity and produce more winners from on or behind the baseline.
Get on court and give it a go guys :)
Let us know how you get on.
