Illahee: Whales

"Members of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation keep the community’s traditional history and stories alive through a local whale-watching operation. Respected for their importance in the circle of life, the magnificence of the whales continues to invigorate the community and visitors alike.

Illahee means “our lands and our place within them” in Chinook Jargon Language. In choosing the word Illahee, we honour the intent of the Chinook Jargon Language to serve as a means of connecting people from diverse backgrounds to each other and to these lands."
