Superb Femke Bol sets another 400m Hurdles Record in London
Femke Bol pulled off one of the greatest performances of her career, clocking a superb 50.95 seconds to win the women’s 400m hurdles at the London Diamond League Games. This incredible feat made her one of only two athletes to ever dip under 51 seconds, intensifying the already fierce rivalry between Bol and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. Bol’s performance shocked the world, and moving into this year’s London meeting, she is looking to continue this hot streak with another stellar win.
And take it she did. Bol closed the race strongly, pulling away even further from the competition. She secured a huge win in 51.30 seconds, breaking her own meeting record from last season of 51.54. This past week for Femke Bol has been red hot, and her 51.30 once again looked effortless, even as she smiled while crossing the finish line. Bol’s form is definitely at an all-time high right now, and if anyone in the world can challenge McLaughlin-Levrone, it will certainly be Femke Bol.
Finishing second was Shamier Little, who clocked a season’s best of 52.78, a very solid performance. In third place was Russell Clayton, finishing with a time of 53.24. But 51.30 is one of the fastest times ever recorded. In fact, only Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Femke herself have ever run faster. This performance would rank as the fourth fastest individual run of all time.
