Mazda announced its return to the seven-seater travel market and launched the new luxury flagship SUV CX-80. This model is based on Mazda's Large Product Group platform and is closely related to the brand's best-selling CX-60, but the CX-80 is larger in size, with a wheelbase that is 250mm longer and a rear roofline that is 24mm taller.

The specific dimensions of the CX-80 are 4995mm in length, 1890mm in width and 1710mm in height, making it one of the largest models launched by Mazda in the European market, comparable to VOLVO's XC90 and Hyundai Motor's Santa Fe. In seven-seater mode, the CX-80's luggage compartment capacity is 258 liters, which can be expanded to 687 liters after the rear seats are folded forward, and 1,221 liters when all rear seats are folded. The second-row seats offer captain-level seat options and can recline to 33 degrees.

In terms of power, the CX-80 will offer a variety of engine options, including a 3.3-liter inline six-cylinder diesel engine and a plug-in gasoline-electric hybrid system. The diesel engine has a maximum power of 253hp, a maximum torque of 550Nm, an acceleration time of 0 to 100 kilometers in 8.4 seconds, and a top speed of 219 kilometers per hour. The plug-in gasoline-electric hybrid system combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with a 17.8kWh battery and electric motor to provide a maximum total power of 328hp. In pure electric mode, the cruising range is 52 kilometers and carbon dioxide emissions are 36 grams/km. . Both engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the front and rear axles.

The design of the CX-80 incorporates Mazda's latest Kodo design concept. The front grille design and streamlined body shape highlight its high-end and sporty style. The vehicle also uses a sports attitude control system to enhance stability during fast turns. In terms of safety, the CX-80 is equipped with intelligent braking support system, frontal collision mitigation function, blind spot monitoring system, ACC cruise control, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, driving attention warning and 360-degree surround imaging function.

The CX-80 will be officially launched in the European market in the fall and is expected to compete fiercely with rivals such as the XC90 and Santa Fe.
