Will SHADE SAILS Keep the Airstream COOL?

oh good morning we have a lot of work to do today first up we need to get caught up on laundry we need to install a security camera and we need to have more shade over at the Airstream it's busy day let's get started [Music] all right time to go install some security [Music] cameras good morning we have a fun little project for the goat Barn uh today's video sponsor realink sent us a bunch of security cameras we're going to keep tabs on the goats so this is a fun project because from the very beginning of the goat Barn plan you wanted cameras mhm yeah I did why did you want cameras in the goart mostly to help me keep an eye on them during kidding season in case I wasn't here what's cool though is R link sent us two cameras so during kiding season they would be inside the goat Barn in the kiding Stalls so we'll put one in there but then we can also put one outside and that way and it's got night vision and all that so like hopefully we'll be able to see if any kind of like Predators tried to come in at night and see Cloud doing his job and like it should be really interesting I think it'll be cool excited we to put the kittens up so that they don't get in the way while we do this but I really wish they could come out and play cuz they look so cute okay so we have this kit from R link it's got two cameras solar panels and the Brain this is what we start with this is how you get everything set up we're going to connect it to our Network which if you're wondering how we have a network in the goat Barn video coming very soon explaining the whole Wi-Fi Mesh networking thing we set up on the property but we do have Wi-Fi in here so that's what we're going to do first all right this is the home I have the perfect spot for it you this nice little shelf plug the power in here's your ethernet cable so we're going to Power It Up and plug it into our little mini switch router again we'll get into that in another video but that should connect us to the network in here now that it's on the network we're going to download the reink app on our phone I'm on the same network so it looks like it's already seen the reink H Hub so it's already it already knows that it's there which is good so we'll initialize it now let's unbox the cameras and see what they come with instructions antenna camera and all of the different mounting stuff there's a few different ways you can mount it but first we have to use the app and actually connect this camera to the homehub so that they can talk to each other you just click the plus button and you scan the QR code on the back you say yes I would would like to connect and then welcome to real please inst and SC the C on the camera I did that you're supposed to point the camera at the thing camer is connec to your we're waiting for it to connect to the home hub connection to the succeed kittens have to go to the bathroom so we've closed everything up for a minute smell DET tour oh hi guys [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay an had to go to the neighbor's house uh she looks after their horses in the mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays so we're going to go ahead and at least get these things mounted and then when she comes back we'll make sure they're pointed where they need to go and all the notifications and all that stuff for make it make it crazy stop the CL take the payment Pi the spot please be patient we make it hot make [Music] crazy czy all right adeli is back uh we have cameras are you excited mhm yeah we're going to make a few changes to the settings but first let's talk about some of the features of these cameras so obviously they will run off battery or solar power which is really nice they shoot in 4k you can actually store that footage on an SD card if you want and you can add up to eight cameras on the home how many cameras do you need camera moves 360° you get two night vision modes two-way audio good morning goats please keep your hoves inside the fence at all times so these cameras will do all sorts of notifications they'll know if a person or an animal or a car comes up they'll turn on lights they'll make noises they'll send you notifications in your phone so fancy so fancy but I'm assuming you probably don't want most of that for the goart uh so that is all programmable we went in and turned off a lot of that stuff it will activate when it sees an animal moving and it will record and create an event but it's not going to start like beeping at the goats or flashing them or whatever so far I'm pretty impressed with the cameras I mean like you long long time ago when we very first moved here we put up shade Sals over the airam well the shades are up yeah but they're not exactly shading our airam no they're not didn't really work we we're trying it again this time we have a big thing to attach to sh Sals too so we're trying it out we're seeing how it goes so far I kind of like it we have two more to do maybe depends on how they overlap we're going to play around with it and see if we can take some of this uh end of the day Westward Sun that just blasts the whole side of this Airstream during the day this works really well this cover keeps it nice and cool in here with the air conditioner running the end of the day is when it starts getting hot again and it really heats the trailer up at night it's the whole thing so yeah we're going to try to put some Shad Sals on see how it goes the summer over desert land where the Sun beats down like a cattle brain no sign of water but you quench my thirst you're the only one living and getting blasted by the Sun but it's been cloudy every afternoon yeah which you know means storms are [Music] Brewing for those of you who are new to Arizona this is a habo we're about to get hit from two different it's a huge wall of dust so we are going inside we got stuck out in one one time and it was horrible here it comes she's going to the D [Music] do you not like it I'm scared a I'm sorry it's crazy looking where did the mountains go they're gone [Music] [Applause] [Music] so a lot of you are asking what are we doing next that's a great question it is so many things you may remember we finished the goat Barn finally which is awesome we just finished the dome which I don't think we've said out loud so full build video for that will be coming soon and of course the house which everyone's been asking about finally getting started on the house again yes we have ordered the supplies for our door forms and of course you know that's going to take us quite a while to make all those forms and get them installed so those videos will be coming out later on yeah so in the meantime We are continuing to work on our we'll call it our education series we just did our big hyper Adobe how-to video we're going to be doing one about our new Wi-Fi Mesh networking system that we set up here on the homestead we're going to be revisiting the power system kind of looking back at that and seeing how it's holding up a couple of years later I might even get a chance to tell you about the updates in our garden yeah what is happening back there's a lot of things going on back
