Meditation: Why is it so Hard for Some to Do?

Perfect surprises from the universe

So my question is more about, it's my, this is always my question. I just don't really understand
why this is so hard. And if it seems much more, it seems very logical to me that we're here to evolve
and I understand the idea of the usefulness of us all being these separate, you know,
I forget your terminology at the moment, but you know, separate points of consciousness,
separate bits of consciousness. I understand all that, but I just think that once we've got
the intention, once we have the ability, right, like, why is it still so hard to do that? You
know, why do we still resist, or I speak for myself, why do I still resist that? And I don't
understand where that fits in with what's the function of that. There has to be some reason
in my mind that that's the case. And anyway, so just wondering what your thoughts or opinions are
on that. Okay. Well, what we're doing here is, is lowering our entropy. When we are busy and
parts of our mind are flying around all over, that's high entropy. When we get to that calm
state that everything is kind of in order and stable and still, that's low entropy.
Okay. It takes effort to lower entropy. Entropy doesn't just lower by itself.
The natural state of things is to be chaotic. If you don't do anything, you end up with chaos.
If you never meditate, if you don't do anything, your mind tends to be chaotic. Not just your mind,
but your life too. If you don't straighten up your house, you don't wash the dishes,
you don't make the bed, pretty soon your house looks chaotic. It takes effort to keep things
neat and in their place. So low entropy always takes effort. It's not something that, oh, okay,
I got it. Now I want to just have it for free. It's never for free. It always takes effort.
Now to go along with that, there is always a whole lot more things that are dysfunctional
than there are things that are functional. Whenever you go to make a choice, okay,
I'm at a crossroads. I have a choice. There are always a whole lot of bad choices that you can
make and only a couple of good choices that you can make. Just life is always like that.
So you get to some thing and, okay, the easy thing to do is just to watch some soap opera or
sitcom or something and veggie out with mind-numbing emptiness. That's easy because you
don't have to do or be anything. It just happens. But that's high entropy. It's more effort and more
work to sit down and meditate, become a clear, precise, focused consciousness. That takes more
work. It's also more rewarding. When you're done, you've got something to show for it where when
you're done watching that sitcom, actually you're a little less than you were when you started it.
It actually takes something away from you. You're tired. You're more strung out. You're
worse off for listening to that sitcom than you were before. But there's lots of things you could
do that are mindless. But there's only a couple of things you can do that really will help you grow.
And they take effort. And they'll always take effort. So life is like that. As we go through
life, there's always at any particular choice point, there's maybe just one or two or three
good choices. But there's thousands of bad choices, literally thousands of bad choices.
I mean, how many ways can you mess something up? Oh, well, you can't count all of them. You can
spend days just listing all the ways you can mess something up. But how many ways can you fix
something? Oh, well, there's very few ways that you can fix something. You see, it has to be done
just right to fix it. So all of life is like that. It takes work. It takes effort. And you have to
constantly put that effort in. You'd never get to the point that you can say, ah, I'm arrived.
I'm there. Now all I have to do is sit back and enjoy it. Because as soon as you just sit back,
enjoy it, chaos starts to develop, entropy starts to increase, things start to fall apart,
your ego starts to grow, your fear starts to grow. These things just happen. And when you're doing
nothing. So that's why it's just it's a natural law of entropy, that if you just leave things
alone, entropy increases all by itself. It takes effort to keep things ordered. You got to make
the bed, wash the dishes, pick up the dirty socks, you got to do all that stuff that takes effort.
And if you don't make the effort, you start living in a chaotic situation with a chaotic
environment, which is encouraged as a chaotic thinking and a chaotic mind. And now you're just
kind of blundering through life like a zombie. And everything is chaos. Everything is stress.
Everything is, you know, pulls energy out of you rather than puts energy back into you.
It's just, sorry, but it's just life is made that way.
Well, I totally appreciate that. And actually, it's very helpful for me to think about that,
it's not personal to me or personal about getting into present state, to just think of it as just
another example of exactly what you said. It's just the idea of everything going to entropy,
if nothing happens, that I get. And to realize that's just, it's just that, it's just that,
and that's across the board. That's helpful. It's a little easier for me to just accept that.
Yeah, you know, and it's not only us, it's everything. You know, you take a battery,
it has a shelf life after a while. Even if you've never discharged it and never used it,
if it sits on a shelf long enough, it's done. It doesn't work anymore. Same with your house.
You never do maintenance on your house, eventually it'll fall apart.
You know, everything is that way. Everything. That's entropy. It marches forward unless we
put effort into moving it the other direction. So it's, yeah, it's not even just us. It's
everything. Thanks so much.
