MOTORCYCLE ADVENTURE NEWS October - 2023 KTM890 - GAS GAS 450 - KLR650 - ADV ZERO
Veteran off road motorcycle journalist Andrew Clubb, Editor of Australian Adventure Bike Magazine gives us insight into his take on the off road motorcycle industry through the lens of his 30 years plus experience. In this episode Clubby discusses the arrival of the 2023 KTM Adventure R with a slight redesign making it more appealing and a suite of improvements. On the other hand KTM have taken a big risk introducing subscription or try 'after you buy' electronic features that are de-activated about the time of the bikes' steepest part of the depreciation curve. Time will tell if this approach, popular in the top end of car market will appeal to adventure motorcyclist, who we all know are another breed. We are a huge fan of the KTM Adventure R by far and away the best in the class, but we think this is a big risk to what otherwise is an iconic bike with lots of fans. Meanwhile the Kawasaki KLR650 gets a new paint job.......back to green. Now that's innovation right there! ZERO have launched and ADV model. Whilst it's great to see these small but significant steps towards electrification. For Clubby and I we couldn't even reach the forest with the current range of the bike and heaven help you if it falls on you, that bike is seriously heavy!
