Hey guys, what's up? I'm Mark, and in this channel, I talk a lot about personal finance,
but I also cover a bit about lifestyle, especially wine. In case you didn't get that,
we're back with another wine video. In today's video, we're going to be doing something different.
This is definitely something that I won't do on my own, but because you guys keep asking for it,
I'm finally giving in. In today's video, we're finally going to be doing a sweet wine tasting.
You've been asking me for recommendations. I actually don't have any, but I came across this
bottle at S&R, and since it's coming from Chile, and it's made from one of my favorite grape
varietals, Sauvignon Blanc, I'm actually going to give this a shot. So if you see on the label,
this is from Santa Carolina, one of the bigger wine exporters in Chile, and it also says that
it is a late harvest. So a late harvest would actually mean that the grapes have been hanging
from the vines a little longer, the grapes would have ripened more, and it would have accumulated
more sugar. So this bottle was really made to be enjoyed as a sweet wine. This bottle comes from
the Rappel Valley. So the Rappel Valley is made up of Cachapual and the Colchagua, popular wine
regions in Chile. I've actually recommended quite a bit of wine from this region in my previous
videos. If you want to check that out, you can check that out later. So let's quit the jibber-jabber,
quit stalling, and let's finally get this sweet wine tasting started. So if you see, the bottle is
actually shaped similar to somewhat like a balsamic vinegar or olive oil. So this is actually a 500
milliliter bottle, which means that it is 50% less than the typical wine bottle at 750 ml.
Typically also, in my previous videos, I air out the wine before tasting it. And this one,
since it's a sweet wine, I actually don't know what the rules are in terms of air rating. So
hopefully I didn't mess it up. Hopefully I get to taste it at its best. And that's interesting.
Visually in color, you would see that it is already looking heavier than your typical
Sauvignon Blanc. So Sauvignon Blanc usually would be a very light color, while this one would be
like a medium gold. But it's definitely on the heavier side of yellow.
That actually smells nice. You get that bitter smell of gooseberry. It has a little bit of
salinity, smells a little salty. So it's distinctly Sauvignon Blanc. It has that almost grapefruit,
bitter citrus type of scent. But it has a heavier texture, so there's sort of a honey feel to it.
Cheers guys! Oh, I think I can get on board with this. So it smells exactly like what I said.
There is that grapefruit, bitter citrus taste. A little bit pineapple-y. It's like Sauvignon Blanc
with a mix of honey. And what I like about it is that it doesn't taste too manipulated. You know
how honey sometimes already feels too artificial. It just doesn't feel light and natural. So
this is actually just right. I like that. I like that. Seriously. I mean it's different. It's not
gonna be wine that I'm gonna be pairing with shellfish or chicken. It would be a different
take of what I'm typically used to. But this is nice. I mean, it's just pleasant man. And again,
it goes back to what I said earlier. It doesn't feel like wine that was just mixed with sugar.
It does feel like this grape was aged. The grapes developed more sugar through time. It's a very
natural take on sweet wine. I'm a convert, so you know. I can't believe I'm liking it. What do you
think guys? Do you like this sweet wine tasting? I haven't really seen a lot of these late harvest
bottles. It's under 500 pesos if I'm not mistaken. It's around 460 pesos. I think it's a good value
and it's not just sugared down. It's not a wine that you can't taste the wine side of it anymore.
So again, I got this from S&R. If you're not a member at S&R, you can get 250 pesos off when you
use my code MARK7188 via the Picaru app. You don't even need to be a member of S&R. You can just
download the app and order straight from there. Or if you've already used the Picaru app and you
still want discounts, you can also get 200 pesos off via Metro Mart this time and you can use my
code down below. What do you think guys? Do you want to try this wine? If you've liked this video,
please don't forget to like, comment, and consider subscribing if you haven't already.
Thanks again for watching and cheers! Happy holidays to sweet wine!
