House passes Legislation to address coerced organ harvesting backed by CCP

The US House passed the Falun Gong Protection Act bill on June 25th, aiming to compel the Chinese Communist Party, or CCP, to end its prolonged campaign of repression against the spiritual group Falun Gong. The Falun Gong Protection Act, which was introduced by Congressman Scott Perry and had 18 co-sponsors, was passed through an online vote. This marks the first US bill aimed at addressing Beijing's harsh crackdown on Falun Gong, a meditation discipline based on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance. In 1999, Jiang Zemin, who was the General Secretary of the CCP at the time, initiated a harsh campaign of repression aimed at an estimated 100 million Falun Gong practitioners. The CCP carried out this persecution because Falun CCP perceived Falun Gong as a threat due to its totalitarian instincts. Additionally, practitioners believe in the creator, while the CCP is an atheistic force. Over the past 25 years, Falun Gong practitioners in China have faced long prison sentences, torture, forced labor, and even forced organ harvesting. The Falun Gong Protection Act still needs to be approved by the Senate. If signed into law, it would require the US to cease all cooperation with China on organ transplants and impose targeted sanctions and visa restrictions to stop the persecution of Falun Gong on the international stage. Speaking in the House of Representatives on June 25th, Scott Perry said that having to discuss the issue of systematic forced organ harvesting in 2024 is very frightening. He said, This is something like what we saw with Joseph Mengele, but it's happening today. In China, if you've got the money, there is no waiting list for you to get an organ. There's a ready supply of these organs. Speaking in support of the bill, Congressman Greg Stanton spoke of the unimaginable suffering that Falun Gong practitioners have experienced when their most basic rights stripped away, their bodies violated in the most grotesque manner. He said, Imagine the terror and despair of those who are imprisoned for their beliefs only to have their organs forcibly taken from them. This is not just a statistic or a distant issue. These are real people, people with families, with dreams, who endure unbelievable pain and fear. Congressman Rick McCormick thanked Perry for introducing the bill. He said, The idea that a member of a religious minority could be targeted and killed so that their organs could be harvested is worthy of a horror movie.
