Are you tired of tossing and turning all night in your hotel room? Fed up with
noisy hallways or random noises keeping you up all night? Well you can say
goodbye to those restless nights. I'm sharing all my must-pack items to turn
your hotel stay into your own personal sanctuary. You'll be able to catch those
Zzz's, wake up refreshed, and feel like you've never left the comfort of your own
home. First up, pillows. This is probably the most frustrating part about sleeping
in a hotel room. I don't know about you but I always find the pillows are either too flat or
too bulky and nothing in between. So that's why I can't stress enough the importance of finding
your own little travel pillow. For me, I use this memory foam one. I find it's ultra supportive and
it rolls up into this little bag so it's really easy to carry anywhere I go, even on the plane
or in the car. I always carry a roll of black electrical tape in my travel bag. This is to
cover up those annoying indicator lights that are always so bright and you never notice them
until you shut all the lights off and get into bed. There's always a light on either the TV,
the clock, power outlets, smoke detector. I like it because not only is it blackout,
it's easy to remove and doesn't leave any of that sticky residue behind.
The number one thing I always pack for a hotel stay is a pair of slippers. I hate walking around
barefoot or even socks in a hotel room because the carpets are never as clean as you think they
are. And sometimes, especially in places like Mexico, the floors are actually tile which are
really cold and hard on your feet. And if you've been busy traveling all day or standing or walking
around, slipping into a cozy pair of slippers adds a huge element of comfort at the end of the day.
A blackout sleep mask is a must-have for anyone staying in a hotel. So you need to get yourself
the right kind of sleep mask. The one I use is memory foam and it's got these raised edges for
over your eyes so it doesn't squish your eyelashes and it seals perfectly for total blackout. This
one I have is buttery soft so it doesn't even feel like you're wearing it. Sometimes the curtains
aren't fully blackout or sometimes there's a gap that lets the light in. And yes, you could grab
the hanger from the closet and close the blinds that way. If you are traveling with a partner,
sometimes one of you wants blackout and some of you wants a little bit of light.
Piggybacking on the light issue, bringing your own nightlight to a hotel or even an Airbnb is
so helpful for navigating a new space and somewhere unfamiliar. This is especially helpful for the
elderly. We use this little motion detector nightlight and we usually put it in the bathroom
so it only comes on once you get up. A small white noise machine is the most underrated item you can
bring with you when you're staying in a hotel. I don't know about you but I can never sleep where
there's these odd weird noises or even a lack of noise. But when you have something like a little
white noise machine, not only does it provide that comforting background noise, it can really
help block out other weird noises from the hallways. If you've stayed in enough hotel rooms,
you know there's never enough electrical outlets to go around. If you've got two phones, cameras,
laptops, hair accessories, tablets, etc, you're going to want to bring an extra outlet extender
or a small power strip. I like the one we have that has multiple ports but another good kind
is one that's low profile or has a flat plug. And in case there's not enough electrical outlets or
they're in the wrong place, I always bring an extra long phone charging cable. For instance,
sometimes there's only one outlet on one side of the bed or the outlet is in the middle of the
wall behind the bed. When you have a cord that's super long, it's really nice to be able to use
your phone anywhere in the room no matter where the outlets are located. A small vanity tray is
one of my favorite travel accessories for a hotel. This tray keeps my small personal items organized
on my hotel nightstand and it also reminds housekeeping not to throw anything away. This
tray that I have is super light and it unsnaps to pack flat and takes up virtually no space.
My next item is packing cubes. These are the perfect hack especially if you're moving hotel
rooms every one or two nights. I like them because they keep things organized and easy to access
without having to make a mess of everything that's in your luggage. This is the set I use and I love
them because there's several different sizes and they also have this compression feature.
I've also heard that packing cubes are essential for staying organized on your cruise since the
cabins are really small with limited storage and closet space. When going through security,
packing cubes are also great because if your bag does get searched and you're matched with maybe
an unfriendly TSA agent, after they're done rifling through your bag it is so much quicker
to put everything back together. If you're a coffee or a tea drinker, a kettle is an absolute
must. Even if there is a coffee maker in the room, those things are never sanitized. I think we've
all heard the horror stories of what some guests have used them for. One of the worst ones I heard
was washing socks and underwear in them. So for that reason, I always travel with this collapsible
kettle. Let's face it, the toilet paper at most hotels is usually cheap one-ply that feels like
sandpaper. There's nothing worse than being irritated down there from a low quality hotel
toilet paper. So even if you're feeling tired, didn't get a great sleep, having these wipes just
does so many wonders for feeling clean, smooth, and refreshed. I have a ton more toiletry packing
hacks that I'm going to put in a future video. So until that's posted, I do have a full blog post
that has everything detailed there or you can watch one of my other packing videos. Links to
everything in the description. Thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next one.
