Please join me for afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday
at London's most iconic five-star hotel, the Ritz.
Yay, thank you. Have a good evening.
Good evening, Mum.
The hotel was opened by Swiss hotelier César Ritz in 1906,
just eight years after opening the Ritz Hotel in Paris.
He wanted the exterior to look like it belonged in Paris,
and the interior like Versailles.
César Ritz designed the width of each corridor
to allow two ladies to walk with ease in their voluminous petticoats side by side.
The hotel's most prominent facility is the Palm Court,
which is where the well-celebrated Tea at the Ritz is hosted.
However, since 2022, for the first time in over a century,
afternoon tea is now served in the hotel's former ballroom,
located in the lower ground floor for a limited time.
Whilst dining, you are serenaded by their resident pianist and harpist,
which makes the whole experience even more wonderful.
There are 18 different types of loose leaf tea to choose from,
with the Ritz Royal Tea being the only tea exclusive to the Ritz,
and is also the one that I ordered.
Thank you very much, thank you.
That made me blush.
In the middle we have a two litre plain sconce with a strawberry,
jam and cornish cocktail cream.
On top we have banana and salted caramel choubon,
cassis finger cake, and coconut and mango berry.
Thank you very much.
This was also the first hotel to welcome women to come without a chaperone for afternoon tea.
Are you going to say prayer with me?
So this is how much grief my cousin has put on my scone.
Is that enough Danica?
Have a good night.
To give a quick overview, they have five different time slots.
The first being at 11.30, 1.30, 3.30, 5.30, which we attended, and then 7.30.
They also have a dress code, as gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie.
Shorts and sportswear are not permitted in any of the hotels, restaurants and bars.
Now I'd just like to start off by saying that afternoon tea at the Ritz is worth every penny.
From the moment you step out of the car to the time you leave, every second is brilliant.
Absolutely brilliant.
Now the staff, they were just incredibly attentive and friendly.
Nothing was ever too much for them, and honestly they are just the true meaning of above and beyond.
The venue was gorgeous, very opulent, and even though it's not in the Palm Court, it's still
The food was delicious, with sandwiches, scones, desserts and different types of tea,
all of which were replenished several times.
And what you don't manage to finish, they put in a very elegant little doggy bag for you to take home.
Also, since it was my birthday, they played a live rendition for the celebrants,
as well as brought out a cake for you.
Everything was first class, but if we were to be really picky,
I would have just had the scone warmed up a little bit more.
But that's only if we're looking at the really minute details.
But all in all, these factors combined make an unforgettable experience
and is a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday.
And on that note, I hope you enjoyed the video and I'll hopefully see you next time.
