The return of Odysseus to Ithaca is the climax of Homer's "Odyssey." After twenty years, Odysseus returns to a kingdom in chaos, where his wife Penelope is besieged by suitors seeking her hand and the throne. Disguised as a beggar by Athena, Odysseus enters Ithaca and, with his son Telemachus and loyal servants Eumaeus and Philoetius, plans his revenge.
