Good lines!
I have made my way back down to Southern California.
Worldwide Cyclery once again and this place is totally different than it was when I first visited.
This used to be the whole Fulfillment Center area. This used to be the shop
and this whole place is way different. I'm going to be riding with Jeff,
the mastermind behind Worldwide Cyclery. Raymond's going to be stuck in the office today
but he's helping the boss get a little GoPro rig going here.
Good Jerry rig setup thus far.
Get some plastic, get some zip ties and you might be able to make some magic happen.
The orders have come in off the UPS truck and the various places that they get them.
These guys are working hard. I just love looking at all the gear.
When you're going downhill, it'll get a good shot on Ryan.
If I can keep up.
That's the entire thing.
I can use my ears to listen for your tires and perfectly gauge my distance.
BKXC speed.
Have you even ridden this thing yet?
I've got several rides on it, man. Just maintain it well.
Yeah, right. What do you get? A toothbrush on the tires?
Those are fresh. Those are fresh tires. I've got two rides on those tires.
But yeah, Liam, the head mechanic here is a OCD nightmare of a man and he keeps things
clean for me. Well, I guess he knows my OCD, so he's the only one I let work on my bike.
That's awesome.
He keeps it just spotless. Toothbrushes, the tires, everything.
I think we might have something there. We just did some parking lot test laps.
We were wearing our helmets. We were being very safe.
And I think the angle is going to come out pretty good.
You guys are going hard on the YouTube channel thing.
Yeah, man, we are.
And we've been talking about this for like more than a year.
These guys have been around since almost the beginning of the channel.
And we've been talking and I've been visiting and riding with these guys.
What are you going to bring to the table?
We realize the mountain bike world is complicated.
There's a million different products and tires and suspension forks and bikes.
And we kind of want to demystify it, right?
Like, what value can we bring with all the knowledge we have with all these guys who
know a ton about bikes and all the products we see every day?
Like, what can we bring to the table as far as educating people on all of this product?
And I tell them over and over, you guys just know everything.
Where a normal dude like me is like, hey, what's the difference between the thing?
So all the remedial videos you guys have been doing have been excellent.
They've been so good.
And keep doing it.
And go full nerd.
Go remedial.
Do everything in between.
I think you'll do a lot of good for the mountain biking world.
Yeah, we're stoked.
We're excited and having fun with the channel thus far.
Hell yeah.
Ladies and gentlemen, we're back to the scene of the crime.
This is Suicide Trail.
And the last time I rode this, I did it twice.
I was so far out of my league.
I was dropped immediately by Andy and Logan Mullally.
And so today, these guys are going to drop me immediately.
So it's going to be fun.
But I've been wanting to get back to this trail so bad and actually ride it on my bike.
And we're going to see how we go here.
I'm looking forward to it.
So I've already made two bumbles on this trip.
I forgot my chesty.
So I ran to Best Buy today and bought a chesty.
Or no, I went to Target.
Best Buy didn't have it.
Or Best Buy was too far.
And I also forgot my gloves.
So, you know, nothing like going down one of the ******* craziest trails of all time
with no gloves on.
Let's do it.
The attention to detail on Jeff's bike.
I think this is a piece that was probably a lighter color that he covered up just to
make it more black.
What?
That right there.
Yeah, that's true.
He breaks out the paint pen.
He just blacks it out.
So even the even the rims like these out of the box have like some red graphics on the
paint and we tape them off and then we use contact cleaner to take off all the color
and all like the graphics that I don't like.
So we remove that from the rim.
So we just have that.
So we don't have any red on there that doesn't go with the flow of the rest of the colors.
It's a masterpiece.
You should do a video about it.
Yeah, I've been told.
I've been told I should do a video about it.
So it's a transition smuggler, if you're curious.
Just a little toasty.
Got some tough stuff ahead.
All the while, my glove hands are getting a suntan.
They don't get to be out in the sun very often.
Yeah, oh boy.
Yeah, so far.
There we go.
Oh, toasted.
Oh yeah, I need a break.
Oh, you keep going.
There's kind of no shade.
Jeff said he doesn't like doing this climb because it bonks him out.
But as we will see here, he's going to clean the whole thing and not have a problem.
Okay, okay, there we go.
Good, good technical climbing.
That's it.
Did you get it, Jeff?
Nice, no excuses.
I got a few excuses, but I don't want the video to be like an hour long.
Apparently, I've already got a cut on my ankle and me and Jeff are rocking the shorty socks.
Yeah, man.
I always get made fun of for wearing short socks.
Join the club.
Dude, it's the club of two, right?
Yeah.
Anyone else who doesn't understand it?
I don't understand it.
Don't you just feel naked?
I like feeling naked, buddy.
It's 90 degrees out.
It's nice.
The man himself started this whole thing off selling bike parts on eBay.
Him and his printer.
Was your mom helping you at first to fulfill stuff?
Yeah, man.
So I worked at a local shop.
The owner was a really cool guy.
He let me basically buy parts here and there and sell them.
Flipping them.
And then I was also sponsored racing downhill then.
Yeah.
So I take all my old sponsorship products and sell it on the internet.
Sell it to friends, sell it on Pinkbike.
Yeah.
And I realized, damn, I can make a business out of this.
Yeah.
I love it.
Jeff and I talk business.
The second we see each other, we just start talking business and
how much we love this game and how interesting it is.
And he's definitely a good mentor to have around.
10 years younger than me.
Good mentor.
So I was here last year and the shop was about half as big.
Now it's twice as big.
30 employees.
East Coast Distribution.
Worldwide Cyclery taking over the world.
Two things to focus on, man.
Just amazing customer experience and amazing employee experience.
Yeah.
I think if you focus on those two things in business, it's everything.
Yes.
Customers love you.
People love working there.
Create a great work environment.
That's my passion.
That's what I love.
Yeah.
We could talk about that all day.
Exactly.
And I order parts from these guys all the time.
And I email Raymond, one of the guys, and I feel like I'm getting the VIP treatment.
And Jeff's like, no, it's like everybody does that.
Yeah, we treat everybody.
That's just how it goes.
So email him.
Exactly.
And that sounds like bullshit.
It just totally sounds like bullshit.
But we can prove it.
Yeah, exactly.
If you need this, what's this size?
What's this?
And then frigging Raymond's like, well, if you're going to get the Fox transfer, you should probably
get this dropper post lever.
Like that other dropper post lever kind of sucks.
Like these guys are riding these bikes all the time, beating ---- up.
Like it's a good deal.
You guys got a good thing going.
I'll bail out.
Chicken out.
Slow mo.
Yeah.
Good lines.
Hell yeah.
Oh my.
Yeah, buddy.
Hell yeah.
That felt so good.
Holy ----.
That felt so good.
I like my bike.
Oh my God.
Unreal.
Jesus.
Little drop.
Hell yeah.
Oh yeah.
Okay.
There's the big one.
Shouldn't have stopped.
Okay.
All that time.
I felt like I had, uh, my multi-toe pocket was open.
Distracted.
Oh my God.
Insane.
Someday.
I'm just the cameraman.
Ha ha.
Okay.
Oh, a little softer.
Compounded dirt up here.
I love this trail.
It is wicked.
And every sense of the word.
Get in the rut.
Yeah.
I love it so much.
How awesome is that?
That was good, man.
So much fun.
Definitely somewhere where my skills could level up.
If I ******* rode it every day.
Dude, you rode that good.
You rode that great.
Yeah, your pace on that, for that being the third time you rode it and
haven't been on it in a year.
Yeah, that's good.
Solid, man.
Very fun.
That's why I get so hyped up about trails and everything.
If every single ******* town had two of those trails.
I know, man.
Everybody would be a mountain biker.
We're so lucky here.
Did I mention I really liked that ride?
Easily one of the best.
I think I already said it about 10 times now, but we're back at the shop.
Take maybe a little lunch break and we're going to go out riding again.
So thanks for watching you guys.
I'll see you on the trail.
