The harvest mouse, at most 14 cm long (half of which is its tail) and weighing just a few grams, is a dwarf among rodents, the smallest species in Europe and the only representative of the Micromys genus.
The harvest mouse is famous for its graceful climbing skills (using its prehensile tail to nimbly scale the stems of cereal plants) and for the nests it builds for its young in fine weather, veritable little sphere-shaped studios suspended in the tall grass.
