In this video we are dynoing a 1970 LS6 Chevelle engine. It was very important to this particular customer to have this engine dynoed because he didn't want any reason to pull this motor back out of the car because the restoration is impeccable.
The Build:
-11:1 PISTON. 10.2:1 WITH CCS OF THE HEAD AND DECK HEIGHT
-242/242 AT .50 CAM LIFT .520
-STAMPED STEEL ROCKER ARMS
-ALL FACTORY PARTS

We're working on a 1970 LS6 Chevelle engine. It's an all-original car. We did not blueprint
the engine. We rebuilt the engine. It has an 11-to-1 piston in it, but with the cc's of the
head and the deck height, it comes out to 10.2-to-1. And we did not want to deck the block
because the original numbers and all are stamped in the deck surface. It's the original 242-242 at
50 cam, 520 lift, stamped steel rocker arms, factory intake manifold. All the parts are just
factory parts. So it was very important for this customer to have the engine dynoed because he
absolutely did not want any reason to have to pull this motor back out of the car because
the restoration is impeccable. So we'll get it on the dyno and see how it goes.
Okay, that was the first pull and I only have 30 degrees of timing in it right now.
And it's already making up around 470 horse. The first pull we made 470 horse and 511 foot pounds
of torque. I only took it to 5,500 rpm. Everything went well. I decided the air fuel was pretty good
so I put a little more timing in it. I went up to 35 degrees and we'll see how it goes.
I like that. The second pull, it went up to 480 horse and 513 foot pounds of torque. The torque
stayed pretty much the same. And the final pull, I buzzed it up a little higher to 6,000 and it made
513 horse and 513 foot pounds of torque. I'm sure the customer is going to be very
happy with that. It should be a great car to drive around and have plenty of power.
