Anna’s Hummingbird Daisy Nest Day 7

#animal #nature
This is one of my resident Anna’s Hummingbirds, Daisy, and her hatchlings that are 6 and 7 days old. Her feeder is nearby and I provide her with fresh nectar (sugar water) daily. Daisy goes to catch bugs often for her chicks. The bugs and flies are source of protein for the chicks.

Some facts:
The first egg was laid on April 28 and the second on April 30
Hummingbirds incubate the eggs for 14 to 18 days.
The first egg hatched on May 14 and the second egg hatched on May 15
Hummingbirds in my area, San Diego, usually have two to four clutches each season.
The nest is made from grasses and small twigs filled in with soft and fluffy fiber. The nest is held together with spider silk and is soft and spongy. The mother bird uses paint chips on the outside to try to blend in with the nest to hide it from the predators.
