The mysterious female mayor of the Philippines suspected of being a spy for Beijing

Alice Guo, the 35-year-old mayor of Bamban, Tarlac Province in the Philippines, recently drew significant attention due to suspicions of being a Chinese spy involved in overseas fraud.
The BBC reported that Philippine law enforcement found an online casino (Pogo) in Bamban was a front for a Chinese overseas fraud center. In March 2023, police raided the scam center, rescuing nearly 700 people involved in online fraud, including 202 Chinese citizens and 73 other foreigners forced to impersonate online lovers to commit fraud.
