In the Yao ethnic group in southwest China, there is an ancient legend that in ancient times there were only the sun and stars in the sky. When night falls, the earth falls into a terrifying state of darkness, and humans and animals hide. One night, a large mountain that was neither square nor round suddenly appeared in the sky, like a huge stone, radiating hot light. This legend of the Yao people actually talks about the origin of the moon. Two pieces of information are revealed from this mythical story. First, the moon was once very close to the ground, and its appearance could be seen with the naked eye. Second, the moon suddenly appeared one day after the emergence of humans. What this legend wants to say is that the moon may not have been formed naturally, and it only reached its current orbit later. This naturally brings a hint that the moon may be artificial. The legend may not be reliable, but it provides another perspective on the origin of the moon. In fact, it is not fundamentally different from the hypotheses put forward by scientists on the origin of the moon. They are all diverse and open to imagination. The sun and moon are the two largest celestial bodies in our sky. They both bring light to the earth, one during the day and one at night.
