Hi everyone, welcome back to our channel.
My name is Marissa and I work here at Jack Green Signs, which is an estate jewelry company
here in Beverly Hills, California, and today I'm going to be talking about 200 years of
antique jewelry.
We're going to start with the Georgian era and move all the way to the Art Deco era.
Jewelry never goes out of style.
It's a timeless appeal spanned century over century.
Now let's take a walk through antique jewelry.
Starting with the Georgian era, which is from 1714 to 1830, this era birthed a whirlwind
of blossoming designs.
Before the mid-1700s, jewelry was not very easy to access.
It was reserved for aristocrats and high society individuals.
Glass paste was created and it was actually used to substitute real stones due to the
high demand of people wanting to buy.
Now I'm going to show you some of our Georgian pieces from our collection.
First I have a Georgian diamond ruby sapphire emerald 18 karat rose gold Harley Quinn ring.
And then I have a Georgian pearl rose cut diamond 14 karat rose gold silver foil back
dinner ring.
And then I have a late Georgian rose cut diamond silver 14 karat yellow gold cluster ring.
Now let's move into the Victorian era, which is 1837 to the 1900s.
This time period was a period of immense industrialization and it created new opportunities surrounding
mass production.
It began and ended with the reign of Queen Victoria.
This time period was very well known for the style, decor, art trends, and fashion.
Because of the Industrial Revolution, craft items didn't need to be handmade anymore.
There was a lot of sentimental pieces that were made during the Romantic era.
This was a sub era reflecting Queen Victoria and her husband's love.
During the Romantic era and the Victorian era was when brooches were very popular.
Popular gemstones during this time were ruby, emerald, diamond, amber, and amethyst.
And popular cuts were rose cut and cabochon.
Now I'm going to show you some of our Victorian pieces in our collection.
First we have a Victorian 2.92 karat diamond cluster ring.
And then we have a late Victorian diamond 18 karat yellow gold five stone ring.
And then we have a Victorian diamond 14 karat yellow gold cluster ring.
Now moving on to the Edwardian era.
This was between 1900 to 1910.
During this time was when King Edward VII took the throne.
The arts and crafts movement was pioneered by the desire to bring back individual craftsmanship.
Now I'm going to show you some of our Edwardian pieces in our collection.
First we have an Edwardian 1.37 karat round brilliant cut diamond platinum torbillion swirl ring.
Then we have an Edwardian opal demantoid garnet 14k yellow gold ring.
And then we have an Edwardian Sri Lanka purple pink sapphire diamond platinum 14k rose gold dinner ring.
During this time period pastel colors were very popular and everybody really wanted them.
Platinum featuring diamonds and pearls were also very popular.
Old European cut diamonds predated the round cut diamonds which are very popular today.
Now I'm going to show you an old European cut diamond.
This one here is a 1.56 karat old European cut diamond 18k yellow gold ring.
Now moving to the art deco period which was 1919 to 1939.
This period is known for its jazzy spirited fashion after all the industrialization and war.
During this time bracelets actually became very popular.
Now I'm going to show you some of our art deco pieces in our collection.
First I have an art deco star sapphire diamond platinum ring.
And then I have an art deco 1.62 karat diamond onyx platinum ring.
And then I have an art deco opal diamond platinum ring.
Onyx was a very popular and soft stone that to this day if you do find an onyx
they are normally in very pristine condition.
And that's all I have here today for 200 years of antique jewelry
starting with the Georgian era all the way down to art deco.
