Soccer Stories- Get to know LouCity's Damian Las

My name is Damian Loss. I'm a goalkeeper for Louisville City and this is my soccer story. I started playing soccer because of my brother, my older brother. When he was younger he was playing soccer around the house and he also played for a soccer team as well and I think just me being the younger brother followed into his steps and I just started falling in love with the game because of my brother. My earliest soccer memory has to be me playing for the soccer park district back in Chicago. Five, six years old and I was playing with eight-year-olds so yeah, it was great. No, when I was younger I was a center back but I didn't like running and so I put myself in goal. Actually, one of my coaches put me in goal and he saw me just loving it and enjoying saving shots and from there on I stayed in goal ever since. I realized that soccer could be a career for me I think around 15, 16. I think that's when I realized that's when I was more or less 100% committed to knowing and believing that I could be a professional soccer player. I grew up in Chicago. I played for a Polish soccer team called PNA Soccer Academy. From there on I joined the Chicago Magic and from the Chicago Magic I joined the Chicago Fire. I spent three and a half years with the Chicago Fire around 17. I signed my first professional contract with Fulham FC. I spent two and a half years at Fulham and in January of 2021, I joined Austin FC. In 2024, I was loaned out too. What I love about it is being able to learn and understand different people's cultures and I think the diversity and the variety of loads of people just coming together just to play one simple sport. I love the fans. I love all the trash talking. I love all that. I love the competing, the fighting, the passion within opponents and within the team itself.
