I came accross some 2017 footage of my ride from Lyon, France through all of Switzerland with a destination at the foot of the Stelvio Pass in Italy. This is towards the end of a long trip through the Alps and the Pyreneese Mountains when I parted with a group of riders in Lyon that I joined for the Pyreneese Mountains 8 days prior. The main trip was over and I took the long way home as I really wanted to ride a few passes in the Dolomites. Throughout the trip I started to record short video logs - mainly to send home to family and friends as an update on the tour. I edited the video logs with some footage from one of the longest day rides of this motorcycle tour. If I ride solo in the Alps I keep the milage between 450-550 km per day which typically results in 12-13 hours day rides - this is on the long end for most but if it is just me I am happier riding than sitting in a cafe by myself. This trip added a stretch of interstate travel to get me from Lyon to the mountains. All in all the day ended after 14 hours and 800 km of pretty much non-stop riding. At the end of the video you can tell how exhausted I was ;-) I crossed the following passes on this day: - Nufenen Pass (Italian: Passo della Novena, German: Nufenenpass) (el. 2478 m) - San Bernardino Pass (Italian: Passo del San Bernardino, German: Bernhardinpass, 2,066 metres (6,778 ft)) - Albula Pass (Romansh: Pass d'Alvra German: Albulapass) (el. 2315 m) - Fuorn Pass (Romansh: Pass dal Fuorn, German: Ofenpass, Italian: Passo del Forno) (el. 2149 m.) - Umbrail Pass (el. 2,501 metres (8,205 ft)) - Stelvio Pass (Italian: Passo dello Stelvio, German: Stilfser Joch; el. 2,757 m (9,045 ft) The video is rendered in 4K resoluation, however - the video logs are in 1080p which probably shows when viewed in 4K There are subtitles available in English and German Bike: BMW R 1200 GS Camera: Sony FDR X 3000 4K, IPhone 7
