KYOTO VLOG ⛩ Walking tour from Heian Shrine to Nanzenji Temple in Spring【4K】

Hello everyone ✨ This time we will explore Kyoto again. The starting point is Heian Shrine! I will walk from here to Nanzenji Temple. Along the way, there are also the Kyoto City Zoo and the Keage Incline! Let's get started right away! It is about a 15-minute walk from here to Nanzen-ji Temple. The sidewalks around here are well-maintained and very easy to walk on ✨ The grand torii gate of Heian Shrine is peeking through the gap in the building (laughs). This is the Kyoto City Zoo! There are food stalls lined up. The zoo is crowded with families who have come to play. It seems that Kyoto City Zoo will be celebrating its 120th anniversary this year (2024). It is a zoo with a long history. This food stall looks like children would be delighted with it! 😄 There is a boat called "Okazaki Sakura Kairou Ju Sekkibune Meguri". You can enjoy cherry blossoms from the boat. Let's proceed east on Nio-mon Street! It feels good to walk along the river, doesn't it?✨ Is it a river or a waterway? On the opposite side of the river is Kyoto City Zoo. I arrived at the departure and arrival point for the Okazaki Sakura Corridor Jussekibune boat tour. The cherry blossoms have already passed their peak, but it seems like there are still many tourists around! It seems that this day was the last day of operation for a limited time only this year. Well, soon you should be able to see the Keage Incline. The yellowish building in the back is the "Lake Biwa Canal Museum". In this area, "Keburiage" is a region with a strong connection to Lake Biwa Canal. The waterways of Incline and Nanzen-ji Suirokaku are also structures related to the aqueduct. We will introduce the Suirokaku at Nanzenji Temple in detail later, so please look forward to it! This area is the northern end of the Katsuragi Incline. Let's try to make a little more progress. The Katsuragi Incline is a famous cherry blossom spot, but it seems like most of them have already fallen. The fresh green leaves are starting to stand out. This road spans across the Keage Incline. Let's try looking down from the other side. There are still a few cherry blossoms remaining. The tourists are sparse. Now, let's head west towards Nanzen-ji Temple. It's a very charming street, isn't it? Let me introduce you a little about Nanzen-ji Temple here! Nanzen-ji is the head temple of the Rinzai sect Nanzen-ji branch. It holds the highest prestige among all Zen temples in Japan. Founded in 1291. It has a history of over 700 years. The highlights of Nanzen-ji are the "Sanmon" gate and the "Suirokaku" aqueduct! The Sanmon gate of Nanzen-ji is considered one of the three greatest gates in Japan. Sanmon refers to the three gates that must be passed through in order to attain enlightenment through Buddhist practice, abbreviated as the three gates of emptiness, signlessness, and desirelessness. There is a huge and impressive gate anyway! The Brick Water Gate, which is famous for its brick construction, is also well-known. At Nanzen-ji Temple, there is a canal of Lake Biwa Canal flowing, and its Western-style brick architecture is popular. At the time of construction, there were opposing voices against destroying the scenery of the ancient capital, at the same time, it seems that there was a large number of visitors flocking to see it. However, it is now a very popular tourist spot♫ I can see the main gate of Nanzen-ji Temple. It will arrive soon ♫ Sign: Main temple Nanzen-ji We have arrived at Nanzen-ji Temple! Let's go inside the temple grounds right away. There are many large trees standing, it is abundant in nature, isn't it? It is a very calm atmosphere. I didn't know there was such beautiful nature at Nanzenji Temple. ✨ This is impressive! Well, soon we should be able to see the Sanmon gate... Oh! Look over there! This is the Sanmon gate of Nanzen-ji Temple. It's very large! The pillars are lined up densely and have a strong presence. Let's pass through the gate ✨ Wow! There is beautiful greenery beyond the gate! It's magnificent. The approach leads to the main hall in front. It has a relaxed atmosphere and feels pleasant, doesn't it? This is the Dharma hall. Lighting an incense stick seems to purify oneself in its smoke. All tourists are also cleansing themselves. Let's keep going further into the depths! What came into view in the back was Honmachi. You can enter for a fee. This time, we will not go into the details. The white walls are distinctive, aren't they? Now, let's make a U-turn and head towards Suikago Pavilion. I saw it! The brick-built water pavilion✨ Is this still the most popular spot? It's bustling with a lot of people, isn't it? ✨ There are many maple trees nearby. It's a picturesque spot, isn't it~ The evenly spaced arches are beautiful! ✨ Water is still flowing over this waterway. Please look forward to walking on the waterway later! Everyone is taking pictures here. It seems difficult to avoid being seen by others (lol) Let's climb the stairs and move up. The scenery from here is also nice ✨ I will climb just a little more. Well, we've made it up to the waterway. The water is flowing steadily, isn't it? ✨ The waterway is connected all the way from Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture. Let's walk along the waterway. Surrounded by nature, the pathways are well-maintained and clean. Thanks to the shade of the trees, it has a nice atmosphere ✨ This road continues for approximately 600 meters. Now, where does it lead to? I walk while listening to the cool sound of flowing water. Well, the road along the waterway will soon come to an end. It should be visible soon... Yes. Actually, it was connected to the Katsunuma Incline✨ It's around the south end of the Keage Incline. There are hardly any cherry blossoms left, but let's take a short walk. You might want to be careful with the shoes you wear because the ground is rough. Now, we have progressed to about the middle of the Katsuge Incline. This walk is coming to an end soon. There were many attractions from Heian Jingu to Nanzenji, and then to Keage Incline.
