$27 vs $400 Vegas Steak Dinner | Vegas Steakhouses - Peter Luger's, Golden Steer & Ellis Island

Good day everyone this is Tim and I hope you're doing well. This is Vegas and this is the Link Promenade. You can see the high roller over there and if it looks like I'm limping a bit or hobbling that's because I am. They had just finished a half marathon here in the Vegas Strip where you get to run the strip up and down at night and catch the lights without any traffic so that was pretty impressive and a little bit tiring as well and a little bit disappointed here because I just came back from the Golden Steer and it looks amazing but unfortunately I didn't have anything there and it was one of those things and it's kind of tied back to the half marathon or the rock and roll marathon and I got a chance to meet some fellow Vancouverites who was dining right there and they told me to listen to everything our server Dave was mentioning and we ordered up a storm from a wonderful old-fashioned to start to some appies and the lobster and the steak but unfortunately something happened as soon as the appetizer came and it looked delicious. Huge shrimp lots of butter and a nice crostini at the bottom and as soon as I took the first bite the power went out and apparently it was those folks at the rock and roll marathon that were cleaning up that cut the power line so unfortunately they're booked four months out in advance so I don't think I can go back so I still have a hankering for some steaks and I think we're going to do a bit of exploring here and this might be a little bit of a different video here so I figure I'm going to try kind of the most affordable and great value steak places here in Vegas and contrast that with the luxurious extravagant steak place I can find and I think Matt from the Bacchanal Buffet was mentioning that Peter Lugers is in town so I can't wait to give it a try but for the affordable comforting good value steak place I remember when I was here I got a chance to visit Ellis Island and I can't wait to go back I think that's going to be the value comfort steak place and I'll see if we can get a spot at Peter Lugers as well so I'm going to rely on the wisdom of the crowds looking at the comments from Yelp from Google from TripAdvisor and we'll see what people like about it what they don't like about it and we'll verify ourselves and we'll verify for ourselves so I think without further ado hey there how are you so without further ado I am a little bit hungry now because I'm really craving for that steak so I hope you're hungry too come on let's go visit our first spot and that's Ellis Island the village pub come on let's go and I recall Ellis Island is only about a 10 minute walk from the strip and it's right over there so what should have been a 10 minute walk turned out to be 20 minutes especially after hobbling from the half marathon and we have arrived and I got a chance to check out some of the comments the good comments and the bad comments and here's what they say so from the I came here for the double cut prime rib totally agree prime rib looks nice and succulent this is my go-to spot for prime rib and it should be yours as well and now for some of the not so good reviews watch five youtube videos about this cafe however I am very disappointed we ordered the most popular french onion soup and fish and chips onion soup was extremely salty to the point of kidney failure both fish and chips were chewy instead of crispy and I feel kind of responsible because I got a chance to visit here a while ago and share the experience and I thought it was very good and the best deal better than Gordon Ramsay so I hope I'm gonna give this a try again and come on let's go inside great to get a table here and I think some of the other comments was that it gets too busy they weren't attentive but I didn't get a chance to show you but Krista was fantastic and this is the menu here and what they are known for is on the other side so a little bit of negative comments on the fish and chips but I think I'm going to give it a try to see for myself and of course they're known for their steaks it's $9.99 for steak and eggs but that's at a I think it's at 11 till the morning but you can still get that it's just a little bit pricier but I think what people come here for is the prime rib so definitely going to go for that for sure but I'm not going to go for the double cut because last time I was here I ordered that it was substantial so I think the regular king cut and the fish and chips and we'll take you back so I just ordered the fish and chips and the king cut prime rib with the the meal included so you get a potato mashed potatoes and gravy or baked potato and I gotta go for the beer oh I also got the French onion soup but I see the beer coming thank you so much and after all that running I think I deserve a beer cheers and I'll take you back when the food comes first up this is the French onion soup and it is sizable nice baked cheese over filling I remember the comments were saying this was overly salty let's give this a try nice and stringy and very hot however the soup is nice and flavorful and for me it's actually pretty well seasoned not too salty at all and very hot so for me I think this is okay I can finish this off and I could could have been just a bad day or the soup was overly reduced but this is quite nice and I do need to revise my comment there because from the comment saying it was too salty once you get through the cheese and the bread it has a lot of broth and actually as I was getting through it it was a bit salty and the beer certainly helped and especially after the run I do need to replenish the salt so the comment being too salty I think that's accurate unfortunately but I see something coming oh thank you and when we see salad I think this is the beginning of the king cut prime rib meal I think we have to get through this first let's give it a try and I am not expecting this to be fancy like the golden steer this is about twenty dollars or twenty twenty six dollars with a full meal so a nice standard salad nothing fancy as expected and cold especially after the french onion soup so I think the way it progresses is I have to finish the salad before the king cut prime rib and the christianship comes so I'll take you back when this is done and the prime rib comes wow oh thank you so much and lo and behold our food has come and I'm a bit of an idiot because I remember last time I did the exact same thing I got the two together when ordering and forgot to mention to have one come out after after the other because there is a chance or a big chance that it will get cold but I think between the two I gotta try the fish and chips first and this is heavy oh my goodness a little bit of a shake there and uh I gotta try this first but there's no way I can finish all this so I'm gonna try a little bit of the fish and chips and my server who's a bit shy was uh kind enough and she knew what to do she gave me a little ball
