Henri Eccles was an English composer. He was the son of the composer Solomon Eccles and the brother of the composer John Eccles. He played at the court of King Louis XIV. However, feeling neglected in England, he went to Paris, where he was accepted as a member of the French king's chapel. There, in 1720, he published Twelve Solos for the Violin in two books. The first book of these sonatas contains adaptations of Giuseppe Valentini's op. 8, which Eccles placed under his contribution for the slow movements, supplying only the perfunctory fast ones himself. In 1723 Eccles wrote twelve sonatas for violin and figured bass, the most important of which is the Sonata in G minor. These sonatas were strongly influenced by the work of Giovanni Valentini.
