Grinding. I had to give my ass a break.
Get going on a big slog of a climb like this and I start looking at the plants and
thinking about evolution, genetics. It's a crazy world. I'm happy to be here.
A little loose.
Practicing riding with those broken ankles. Heels dug in deep. Seems to be working pretty good.
Yee-haw. A little flat out section there. I was just imagining a kangaroo jumping out in front of me.
Happened to me the other day and nearly took me out. Literally crossed the track. I mean,
I could have touched it. Yeah. It sounds like a joke hazard but it's scary. They are a hazard.
It's big. Yeah, they're big enough to... And they can kind of hop left or right.
There's no indication. They just do it. Yeah. If they get stuck.
I'm the only one wearing knee warmers aka knee pads. But yeah, I only noticed because they're
so wet. So when we start pedaling again right now, like ugh. But otherwise, kind of forget.
There are so many intersections. Oh, all right. And they're pretty well marked. That one got me
though. Those leaves are loose. Oh, this is cool. Oh, got to be careful. Slippery.
Changing terrain once again. Bang, bang, boom with the drivetrain.
Oh, I've heard a few noises in the bushes that have got me on high alert. But so far,
nothing has jumped out to kill me. So Australia isn't as bad as you guys think it is so far.
Still grinding. It's a big one. Not going to get off. Not going to walk it.
I can see the footprints from those who came before me. Hurtful.
We believe we are at the top. Four and a half hours later. Let's survive this bullshit.
Enjoy. Quads are tight. Oh yeah.
Coming in a little hot. Riding blind as we do. Lean into it.
Oh, super loose. Yeah. Eating a little dust, but doing good. Yeah. Oh yeah.
Keep on going, baby. Oh yeah. Straight up flow fest. In that perfect zone.
Oh, it's loose. Oh, pedal strike. Didn't hurt me.
Feeling it in the hands for sure. Oh yeah. What a trail. Oh man. If you live in Melbourne,
quit making excuses. Come out and ride this thing. It's worth it. Oh yeah. Oh, neat. Killing.
Wow. What a groove. Holy moly. I love it. Just the perfect winding terrain.
Slip sliding. Just the loosest little spot. Knee pads. Good idea.
I was trying to dig in, not use my brakes so much.
Still working on the old technique. Yeehaw. I got loose on one. Took one.
So that was the epic. Now we're rolling back. A little bit more trail to go before we hit the
coffee shop, back to the car. I have to say that was probably the most beautiful
climb of all time. And then one of the most flowy descents of all time. So far, truly epic.
And we're in the jungle all of a sudden. A little bit of everything. That's what an epic should be.
Coffee shop closes at four o'clock supposedly, so we are racing the clock trying to get there.
I wouldn't mind an ice cold Coca-Cola or whatever the Australian cheap knockoff is.
You made it. Australian Alpine Trial. All right. Thanks for watching you guys.
See you on the trail. You made it. What time is it close?
Plenty of time. Five hours, 28 minutes, 28.5 miles, 3,300 feet of elevation. Big day.
