Tuckerman Ravine, NH — Skiing the Sherburne Trail

March 11, 2024 | White Mountains, NH • Skinning up to Tuckerman Ravine was not recommended this time. Winds at tree line were reaching 55 mph and 100mph at the summit. Next day's record showed 150mph. Signs for avy danger mentioned both high and considerable. But dangers aside, this was wonderful experience skinning to the Hermit Lake for the first time, and skiing down the Sherburne Trail. On the way up the scenery around up was like from a mad fairytale, on the way down, well I tested very new skis, which may have not been the best time and place... Icy moguls and bad visibility for almost 2 miles. All ended up well and happy. We shall be back!
