Hello everyone, I am very happy to see you again at Qicaiqiao Children's Home.
In the last episode, because we were thinking about the New Year's money,
I told you a story about money.
Now, it's the 15th of January, and we are going to celebrate Lantern Festival.
After the Lantern Festival, the New Year is over.
But, do you know?
The traditional Chinese New Year doesn't only mean the 10 days from the first day of the Lunar New Year to the 15th of the Lunar New Year.
That is the New Year.
Not only is it more grand, festive and lively than now,
but the whole New Year starts from the 8th of the Lunar New Year to the 15th of the Lunar New Year,
and lasts for 38 days.
In the process of the New Year, people can not only revisit the customs, habits and rules that have been passed down from generation to generation during the traditional festivals,
but also feel the peaceful, happy and happy warmth behind the customs, habits and rules.
So, in today's program, I would like to take the children to see our ancestors.
How did they have a meaningful and meaningful New Year in ancient times?
The New Year is not only the children's favorite festival, but also the most important festival in all the traditional festivals of our Chinese nation.
The traditional New Year is not only rich in content and colorful, but the New Year theme is also different from now.
1. It is grateful for the blessings of the gods over the past year.
2. It is to pray to God for a smooth wind and rain in the coming year.
3. It is to worship ancestors and follow the tradition, etc.
So, all the activities contain the rich traditional culture of our Chinese nation.
Since the traditional New Year starts on the 8th of the Lunar New Year,
let's talk about the 8th of the Lunar New Year,
which is the 8th of the 12th lunar month.
In the folk culture, the 12th lunar month is called the waxing moon,
so the 8th of the waxing moon is also called the waxing festival.
And because people all over the world have the habit of drinking waxing porridge on this day,
it is also called the waxing festival.
In ancient times, there were four festivals every year, spring, summer, autumn and winter.
The winter festival was the largest among them,
because it was held in December.
So, since the Zhou Dynasty, people called the 12th lunar month the waxing moon,
and called the day of the winter festival the waxing day.
In other words, the waxing here was a ritual in ancient times.
This kind of ritual was a kind of ritual in which the ancient people expressed their gratitude to the gods and gods
with a simple and humble heart.
In other words, at the end of the year, when we are able to eat and drink,
we should be grateful to the gods and gods for their protection.
And the custom of drinking waxing porridge all over the world comes from Buddhism.
It is to commemorate the founder of Buddhism, Shakyamuni Buddha.
On this day, after eating the porridge made with apple glutinous rice balls,
he attained Buddhahood under the Bodhi tree.
So, after Buddhism spread to China,
the waxing moon on the 8th of the lunar month became an important festival of waxing.
On this day, people would make waxing porridge with various kinds of apple glutinous rice balls,
to offer to the gods and gods, to worship their ancestors,
and to look forward to the harvest in the coming year.
In addition, on this day, the Buddhist monasteries usually hold a Buddhist prayer meeting,
offering sutras, waxing porridge to the gods and gods, and so on.
Children, here, I would like to tell you a little secret.
Do you know that in the Yonghe Palace in Beijing,
there is an ancient copper pot that has been preserved to this day?
In fact, it was used to make waxing porridge for the emperor's family in the past.
The waxing festival on the 23rd of the lunar month is also a big festival during the New Year.
It is the New Year that we usually hear from our grandparents and parents.
On this day, people would light candles and offer incense to worship the gods and gods.
Because in ancient times, the common people thought that the gods and gods were in charge of taking care of the life of the Meihu people.
On the 23rd of the lunar month,
the gods and gods would go to heaven to report to the Jade Emperor about the life of the Meihu people for a year.
So on this day, it is called the day of the god-making.
And because the ancients believed that everything in the world was arranged and monitored by the gods and gods,
they not only believed that there were god-making tables and god-making gods,
but also believed that there were god-making wells and god-making gates,
and that there were god-making lands and god-making fields, and so on.
They believed that these gods and gods were in charge of the good and evil in the world.
Therefore, from the 23rd of the lunar month to the New Year,
the gods and gods were sent to heaven to report to the Jade Emperor.
After the New Year, the common people started to clean up.
Because at this time, all the gods and gods went to heaven to report.
Usually, because they were afraid of the gods and gods who were everywhere,
and they didn't dare to use the broom to clean up anywhere,
they could clean up at this time.
So until now, people still start to clean up after the New Year.
By the 30th of the lunar month, which is the day of the New Year's Eve,
the New Year was at its peak.
At the time of the New Year's Eve,
the most important thing was still to remember the gods and gods,
in addition to having a reunion dinner with family at night and mourning.
At noon on this day,
people began to light incense in the hall of Buddha at home.
The common people called it Qi Xiang.
From this time on, the incense fire in the house could not be interrupted,
and it had to be lit until the fifth day of the New Year.
In addition to this, they had to set up the heaven and earth table in the yard,
that is, the table for offering,
and then put up the door god, please make a statue,
put up the spring lotus, and so on.
Those gods who welcomed the report of heaven
came back to the human world to supervise humans.
After that, when eating New Year's Eve dinner,
they had to worship their ancestors.
This is not only a way for ancient people to express filial piety,
but also a way to inherit traditional moral values.
All of these actually reflect the tradition of our ancient Chinese to worship the gods.
On the first day of the first month of the year,
it is not like what children know now,
it is a natural way.
Then after eating the red date soup,
they go to their grandparents' house to get red envelopes for a hundred years.
In ancient times, there were three or several generations of peers.
Brothers and sisters all lived together.
Every year on the first day of the first month of the year,
the whole family would get up at dawn.
After finishing the whole thing,
they would light the candles,
then open the door,
and set up fruit and tea in the yard.
In the yard, the whole family would worship the ancestors of heaven and earth together.
This is called the opening ceremony of the New Year.
Because the ancients believed that
to worship the heavens is to worship the nature of man.
Because it is God who created the world,
who created man,
so we should worship the heavens in the future.
The purpose of worshipping the ancestors of heaven and earth
is to tell people not to forget their ancestors.
To be a human being, you must know your roots.
Only in this way can you live forever.
So on the first day of the first month of the year,
the first thing to do is to worship the ancestors of heaven and earth.
In addition, during the New Year,
there are many other activities in the world,
such as singing, dancing,
reciting poems,
martial arts,
and other activities.
These activities must continue
until the Lantern Festival on the 15th of the first month of the year.
Because on the 15th of the first month of the year,
it is said that it is the birthday of the god of heaven and earth.
Therefore, some people will celebrate the birthday of the god of heaven and earth on this day
and pray for blessings from the god of heaven and earth.
Dear children,
after hearing the introduction of the Lantern Festival
from the Laba Festival to the Lantern Festival throughout the New Year,
did you also taste the strong taste of the New Year
during the ancient Chinese New Year?
Did you also feel the festive atmosphere
full of holiness and joy
in the traditional Chinese New Year?
And,
do you know,
these traditional Chinese New Year customs
are actually the core of our traditional Chinese culture.
It not only fills the future of the ancient Chinese people
to worship the god of heaven and earth,
but also continues to reflect on the strong traditional Chinese culture,
so that the inheritance method of our traditional Chinese culture
naturally exists in the space of our daily lives like air.
However,
all this was completely destroyed
by the Communist Party of China,
which took over the Chinese regime more than 70 years ago,
and carried out tyranny.
In the form of the so-called Spring Festival,
it tampered with the traditional Chinese New Year customs,
changed the traditional Chinese New Year connotations,
and made the long-standing custom of worshiping the god, worshiping the ancestors,
and commemorating the first year of reunion,
and became the so-called New Year party of the Communist Party of China.
Therefore, many Chinese people now
have lost their belief and respect for the gods,
and have lost the root of our traditional Chinese culture.
So, dear children,
I sincerely hope that after listening to this story,
you can understand the deep cultural connotations
of the traditional festivals of our Chinese people,
and can seriously reflect on your belief in the gods and buddhas of heaven and earth,
and can return to the traditional Chinese culture
with a more confident and impetuous attitude.
Well, that's all for today's story.
See you next time.
