The Harry Potter author did not hold back after being reported to UK police for ‘misgendering’ a news anchor.
India Willoughby alleged to Byline TV that JK Rowling had “definitely committed a crime”.
Rowling hit back, saying that free speech was protected under British law — and suggesting that Willoughby’s “obsessive targeting” of her constituted defamation and harassment.
JK Rowling and India Willoughby have been locked in a war of words on social media for more than a year.
In January last year India Willoughby posted on X, “I’m more of a woman than JK Rowling will ever be.”
J.K. Rowling has hit back at accusations she misgendered a newsreader.
A UK transgender news anchor reported the Harry Potter author to police
for misgendering her as a man on social media.
After doing so, India Willoughby fronted the cameras for an interview
where she claimed that J.K. Rowling's words made her the victim of a hate crime.
For J.K. Rowling to deliberately, and that is the key word,
misgender me, knowing who I am, is grossly offensive. It is a hate crime.
For context, J.K. Rowling and India Willoughby have been locked in a war of words on X
for more than a year. Last January, India Willoughby posted
I'm more of a woman than J.K. Rowling will ever be.
But the latest row kicked off earlier this week when J.K. Rowling highlighted issues
about trans women being allowed in female locker rooms.
And J.K. Rowling has responded to India's claims,
arguing that free speech is protected under British law.
And she went on to say that if she was to be contacted by police,
she would explain that in my view, India is a classic example of the male narcissist
who lives in a state of perpetual rage that he can't compel women
to take him at his own valuation.
Well, look, if you want to identify as a woman, that's on you, you know.
But when you're coming for women like J.K. Rowling and trying to take away their rights,
trying to charge her with a hate crime, you know,
J.K. Rowling is one of the UK's biggest philanthropists.
She's an incredible activist and advocate for so many people, kids, women.
And it's just so wrong for India Willoughby to play victim.
Yes, there are real victims of transphobia in countries and in places in the Middle East
where they can get thrown off buildings, they can get stoned to death.
These are real victims of transphobia.
But this country, majority of people like J.K. Rowling don't care how you identify
as long as you don't come and try and take away their rights.
And sadly, India and radical trans activists are desperately trying to take away women's
rights in order to feed their misogynism.
But it doesn't end there.
Caitlin Robertson, who conducted the interview with India Willoughby on Byline TV,
posted this video about it, which has the internet divided
over whether he referred to India Willoughby as a him or a they.
In that, I used journalistic integrity.
I questioned them about the rise of detransitioners.
I questioned them about some of the darker side of the trans community
and some of the issues that women have raised and cis women have raised
in terms of their safe spaces.
The Harry Potter author posted on X,
Extraordinary, India's interviewer calls India him twice.
The police are going to be very busy.
To which he responded, clearly, I did not call India a him.
Recently, Sky News host James McPherson argued that if you stand up to the woke,
eventually you win.
Well, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and Ricky Gervais have proved that if you stand up to the
woke, eventually you win.
J.K. Rowling's book sales went from $7 million to $11.9 million worth last year.
This despite the fact she was attacked by trans activists
because she said that women deserve their own private spaces.
As for Ricky Gervais, well, he's just won best stand-up comedy series at the Golden Globes.
Have a listen to that latest series.
Here he is.
Well, I am woke now and I can prove it.
There you go.
I love illegal immigrants.
Yeah, sue me now.
Sometimes I go down to Dover for the day, right?
And I look out, right?
I look for a boat and I see a dinghy with about 60 of them.
And I go, over here, right?
And I pull them in.
I pull them into shore.
And I go, women and children first.
They go, there are no women and children.
Just you lads, is it?
Just come on, lads.
There you go.
He is absolutely hilarious.
I love that this man has still not been cancelled.
He's said worse before.
At the last awards ceremony that he hosted,
he was picky on Epstein and how he didn't kill himself.
And then when nobody was laughing, he's like,
look, look, I know you're all his best friends.
And then everyone's like, oh, you can't say that.
He's just absolutely brilliant and doesn't care.
They can't cancel him because he won't let them cancel him.
It's people giving in to the pressure who give the woke people popularity.
I mean, no one cares about woke except the woke.
