Auto Club Speedway History in Fontana Ca | Droning NASCAR's 2 mile track before it was Demolished

here last race I think officially for the 2-mile track at Fontana Steve are you sad to see it go are you excited for the short track that's proposed for the future well you know I think it's kind of like going on vacation right the best time to leave vacation is wishing you had one more day cuz normally when you stay that one more day it's not as good as you thought and you probably should have left the day earlier that's having a looking fun if you come with you watch your top one back be top well I didn't take long for three wide at the start of this so much for taking it easy how d dirty it is what's going on 909ers Welcome Back to the channel today we're in Fontana California a birthplace of not just myself but Mrs 909 as well and we're at the autoc club Speedway we're droning it as it has already had its last race and is now currently demolished and waiting for a rebuild so a little history on the autoc club Speedway uh the autoc club Speedway opened as the California Speedway in Montana California June 20th 1997 and it was a 2m d-shaped Super Speedway the track cost $100 million to build back in the '90s and adjusted for inflation that would be $145 million in today's money the autoc club Speedway was capable of accommodating 122,000 people to put that into perspective for you guys Dodgers Stadium can accommodate 56,000 people that means the autoc club Speedway could handle Dodger Stadium twice over and still have room for more the track featured four turns at 14° a front stretch at 11° and the backstretch at 3° according to the president of autoc Club Speedway David Allen this track holds the average speed record of 241 mph in addition to the oval track within the there was a sports car track a motorcycle track and a test circuit track the autoc club Speedway was also used as a concert venue I remember the epicenter Music Festival held back here in 2010 when uh kiss and Eminem were headlining the uh the festival uh here is a flyer from that music festival so the reason for the demolition of this track is because NASCAR which autoclip Speedway is owned by uh by NASCAR owned and operated uh they're going to put in a short track a half mile track and uh I guess this is a better alternative than uh repaving the 2m track um and at the end of the day it's going to be more cost effective and I guess this is what fans want this is uh this will be number four out of all short tracks in the United States and the only one in the Western United States so a quick little disclaimer guys um I had seen a video saying that it was actually illegal to fly over uh the autoc club Speedway and that the FAA is involved in a uh invest tigation of people doing this and guys it is not illegal to fly over the autoc club Speedway or any other Stadium or or Speedway for that matter however it is illegal to fly over a stadium or the autoc club Speedway during an event and uh this is a little screenshot of the FAA confirming that basically on their website it is only illegal to fly over during an event with 30,000 people or more and it's for obvious reasons guys they have their own drones out there recording uh they have flyovers from Jets you know by the military um they have helicopters out there recording they got TV stations the news they don't need us amateur drone Flyers out there getting in the way causing an accident or crash so
