Hello good morning ladies and
gentlemen all friends
congratulations we meet again
this time
Evalia Indonesia in particular is Afi
Lima
Rises development learning and virtu
we are starting a program which is discussing the
results of this research This is the
first episode of discussing research results.
Greetings, I'm Mona Sugianto, who will be
together with you.
Once a month, we will schedule a meeting to
discuss research results on
Indonesian TV. We deliberately didn't
do Zoom, Mom and Dad, all friends,
but don't worry. Friends, mothers and fathers
can still interact via
chat in the live chat column on YouTube,
so please use it to
interact.
For this first episode, we will
discuss Mothers and Fathers and friends, it's
all about the
meaning of suffering. Well, perhaps
among mothers and fathers, friends are all there.
Many of them are researchers,
academic researchers from both S1, S2 and
S3 levels, both fellow students who
are writing theses or
dissertations, or lecturers, researchers
and observers, so please just review the
results of this research, because
we use
it regularly once a month. I will
discuss the results of research in
Indonesia, well, this time what
we will discuss earlier
is mining of stuffering or the
meaning of suffering, so what is it
and what is the research like? We want to check it
together, OK, the research we discussed
in this episode This is taken from
my own dissertation, namely I studied
at Padjadjaran University in the psychology Doctoral program
from 2016 to 2020
and the
dissertation is related to
variables. So, in turn,
in the first episodes we will
first examine the results of this dissertation
because this dissertation has
a lot of research. Yes, the collection of research and
its results is also very large, most of which have been
made into
products, which are then useful,
whether in the form of therapy or in the form of
modules, yes, which can be more
utilized, but as
pure research, we can also take its meaning
and of course we can learn from it. Yes, both ladies
and gentlemen, we will all
continue, so this is the source. Yes,
this is a dissertation, well, I will
start everything later, we will
discuss the background
and so on, until the results and even
what to do, what can we do?
do it, well, so if there is a background to
why the research on suffering
in particular was carried out there are three things, ladies
and gentlemen, friends, the first is
this world, according to the research results, which is
very good, if you like it, you
can access the journal from Rasa in Plante
and Calister in 2015, they
made research and it was carried out
not only a year, not just one
data collection, yes, but lots of
data collection at
different times, so they observed
violent phenomena
such as mass shootings in
schools in America, yes, then there were
also mass stabbings in Japan. I see,
and the situation where something
happens seems to be sudden but the person
seems to have gone berserk and we didn't
expect that, right? Well then from these
studies, it's a very good
review. From
this journal, this journal article, they
say that finally we have arrived
at a conclusion that
our world is a disconnected world
amidst the ease with which we can connect
to the internet, yes, in all corners of
the world, but we are currently
disconnected from who we are, who we are, who we are, who we are, who we are, who we are
with each other.
Yes, the number of bullying is high, trust
between one and another It's different like that, there is
distras like that, there is no
trust in each other, even each other is made to feel like a
threat to someone. Yes, if
we hear the words homo homoni Lupus,
that humans are wolves for
each other, I think that
really illustrates that what is being researched by this feeling is
Plantae and Calista, so we can
say that our world is currently
experiencing a connection that is not going
well and I as a researcher
agree, yes, with this condition, looking at the
phenomena that exist,
we really need to, perhaps not
admit it, but in the end we have to admit
that our world is not okay,
especially in terms of connection between one
and another, we are experiencing a
connection that is breaking down again. We are not connecting enough.
So why is it that now the
threat of war is before our eyes? Yes, I
hope it doesn't become world war 3, but
how come wars on various scales, not
just wars between countries, yes, they happen
everywhere? Well, why do we need to
discuss suffering because a world that is
disconnected is a world that
suffers, that's the second reason, because
we are disconnected, this world is not a
safe, friendly place
for us to live in. We too, Mrs. and
Mr. Friends, also realize that let's
not say that the world This
is an unsafe and unfriendly place for
children, yes, it's not just for
children, for us the elderly, this world is also
unsafe and unfriendly,
this world is suffering, so for
all its citizens, it's a world that is
suffering, so it's not just me
Only Father and Mother, not only
my family, not only Father and Mother's family
or only certain countries in the world, this
world is suffering, so discussing
about suffering is appropriate
and proper. Then thirdly, the impact of
suffering in human life,
we have seen
very horrifyingly, both the impacts that look
horrifying. Suffering is influenced by both
the visible and the
invisible, the clear impact of suffering in
human life is that until now
we know that we have never
succeeded in truly satisfactorily
reducing the crime rate until
now we have never really
succeeded in reducing the
number. mental health problems and disorders have
never succeeded in continuing to
rise like that, yes, then the number of
family breakdowns has also never
succeeded in being reduced, the number continues to rise,
which can be seen from the divorce rate,
so if we just talk about
families, the
world is already suffering, right? Family
is everywhere in all corners of the
world, so the impact of suffering in
human life is too
worrying, so we can't
close

not to check properly Nascar theory.
What is used in
this research on suffering?
So what is certain is the Eastern teachings
from
Sidharta Gautama. So this is discussed
in the article sharing in 2005. It's
really cool to talk about the
history of Buddhism, yes, in the East at
that time, in India, then later.
What was then discovered
by Sidharta Gautama, so that later
even It's still very relevant
to current conditions, so there are
The Four Noble Truths or 4
Noble Truths, so what are the 4 Noble Truths
from Sidharta Gautama,
when in a
long meditation he
got enlightenment and then
discovered Oh yes, yes. that in this world
today, humans have a pattern of what kind of
life they live in. Well, the first is the 4
noble truths. Those are the noble truths
about suffering. Suffering exists,
don't pretend that it doesn't exist, don't
reject that, OK? Well then also the second is the
noble truth about the cause or
origin of suffering. or the sources of
suffering, yes, perhaps, dear
friends, those of you who have
read manuscripts, you know,
manuscripts of Eastern teachings, yes, you know
that one of the causes or
origins of suffering are three
things, yes, I
think this should be discussed
specifically sometime, okay? because the article about the
race of sin and Mohan is also very interesting, yes,
I have written that, yes, later you can
discuss it in
particular, really cool, yes, then the
third noble truth is about the
cessation of suffering, so we know
that the source of suffering is the
race of sin and moha. but suffering
can also be reduced and eliminated, that's
how it's done, it's as simple
as aloba adusa and Mohan, don't be
greedy, don't be delusional, don't be delusional,
and don't praise other people, yes, that
will eliminate suffering itself,
of course there are ways to do it, that's the
noble truth. The fourth is the way or
way to ask about
this suffering, so since 500
BC we have actually found that
we as humans will
suffer, there are
reasons for suffering and that
suffering can be eliminated or
eliminated and we even know the way of
suffering by Applying the 8
Noble Paths. Well, you have to read it yourself. It's
really cool. The 8 Noble Paths, for example,
speaking correctly, what we're doing will
help us as a way
to express the suffering of the path, OK.
Now we're moving on to
something that is more contemporary in nature,
yes, the modern era, where That was
from when was it discovered in 500 BC
that there was already bugism. Now,
regarding
modern research, the definition of
human suffering that I like the most, which
is quite complete, in my opinion,
is from Castle, well, here is what he wrote, yes,
suffering is a specific condition
associated with an event.
threatens the integrity of a human being.
This condition is multidimensional, yes, and
dynamic, so no, no, it is not single,
usually multifactorial, yes, where a person
experiences severe pressure and then
that pressure becomes a significant threat to
that person's entire life and it disrupts
his self-regulation process, so he is disturbed like that,
yes, because of that pressure, yes?
then that will cause a feeling of
lack and lead to
fatigue, so the person who suffers is
tired, why is it because suffering
drains energy, even though to
face suffering it takes
a lot of energy, yes, to go beyond, to
overcome, we look for solutions,
etc., but it is precisely because of
that suffering. we're tired, so of course we
don't feel good, we don't feel
prosperous. Well, that's the main theory, that's
what is discussed in the research
about this research. Well, then we
also want to see what the method is like.
So,
ladies and gentlemen, friends who will enjoy
our research. also from
rdlp, yes, I made
another program
via YouTube live streaming Indonesia
TV,
namely Professor, Professor, please,
what is research about? So, if
you are here, ladies and gentlemen,
then what are you doing? Have a
psychology student like that, so be your lecturer?
Psychology students or currently
studying, Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree, there is a
simple way to discuss
research methods, research approaches, later
just chat with my doctor, my Professor,
Doctor, Professor Say, later in the
Indonesian advamilia program, also
just look at Indonesia's IG live, later this
year, the schedule My professor at any time, his
schedule. Upload the research results at any
time, please use it. Yes,
OK. Regarding the approach method
using explanatory sequential mix
meter design, of course, dear friends, you
have heard of this method quite often, that
means this method is a method that
we used a quantitative approach
in the past, so I use a
quantitative approach immediately
because if the results are
quantitative data, it could be
too dry in the form of numbers, so that's it,
then followed
by in-depth interviews and
online surveys which are also related to
open questions to explore,
so That's why the explanatory mixed
matted design quantitative pencil first
got the results and analyzed them, then we
carried out a
qualitative study, using the
first online questionnaire. Yes,
for the quantitative one, there was also a set of
questions, both quantitative and qualitative questions,
which were
open-ended questions. Yes, what kind of suffering did you suffer?
Have you ever experienced it? Then how do you interpret
suffering like
that? For qualitative purposes,
the open question was filled in by 1060
participants, ladies and gentlemen,
then there were 11 interviews, 11 subjects, 11
in-depth interview participants, namely
religious leaders and people
who practice compassion. like that,
then they were interviewed and
asked questions like that about how
the process was, including the suffering.
How then did they change their marriage,
not to become worse,
blame the world, complain or become
negative people, but actually
achieve more, really cool, yes, then the
participants were aged 12-5,
then analyzed the data which was for
qualitative, using interpretive
phenomenological or natural science, yes, it was analyzed
using the qualitative one,
okay, well, what are the results, that's it, maybe,
if you are also
curious, you can see it later in the
dissertation summary, it should be when you open the
keywords later in Unpad because of
this all It's
in the online library at
Padjadjaran University. If you're
interested, if you're interested, that's fine, so the result is that there are 4
faces of suffering. There's a lot of
suffering, but there are 4 faces. If you can categorize it, the first is the face of physical, material suffering, the
second is psychological, which is the most
numerous
and is said to be the most miserable. The
participant's words, not my words, yes,
of the 4, the one that causes the most
suffering is the psychological one,
even though you can't see it, the third
is social relational,
relational and other social suffering, the fourth is
spiritual, existential suffering, the 4
faces of suffering from
qualitative research and the impact of that suffering
on all participants. there are definitely
negative impacts and there are some participants
who can find positive impacts from
their suffering, that's cool, so
all of the 1060 participants have
suffering and all of that suffering
has a negative impact on 1060 participants,
yes, but some of the
1060 participants can find
positive impacts from suffering,
that is, then they use it as
fuel to be merciful to
other people, that is, they want to reduce
the suffering of other people, they don't
want other people to experience suffering
like me, that's why they do something in
various forms,
okay, then the third result is that it
turns out How does someone There are
three kinds of interpreting suffering,
yes, marriage eater, suffering is
interpreted negatively, for example,
suffering is bad luck,
suffering is punishment from
God, that is an example of viewing suffering
negatively, so the
consequence is that if we view the
command negatively, suffering
is to be avoided if possible. Yes, then
secondly, the neutral meaning of suffering
is that it is neither negative
nor positive, for example, humans are the ones
who suffer, the second is suffering.
Yes, it is natural that humans
suffer, that's it, not positive,
not negative. It's true that suffering is
normal for all humans to suffer, so
that's it. Neutral, then thirdly, there is
the meaning of positive suffering, what is
positive, that is, where we
say, for example, suffering
is a
test to increase the level, yes,
I will increase the level, like that, suffering brings
wisdom,
I will be wiser if I
can overcome this, so yes, suffering
is teacher to train me like that, be
more patient, more like that. Well, that
's an example of someone who said,
an example of someone who
has a positive meaning of suffering,
something like that. Well, then
from the research results it was also found
that personal suffering is
our own personal suffering, we ourselves
experience that, right? that is, if it is
reflected well enough and
studied thoroughly, it will be
reflected and if it is not
my suffering but I am a witness
to other people's suffering, it is not Mona
who reports that other people are
suffering, but I witness it and
I am empathetic, so it is
personal suffering or
witnessing other people's suffering. That's not
my research, when it is processed
properly it becomes fuel
for my concern so I am concerned. I
also have a concern for people
who suffer like that, yes, and that is
why research is because this
umbrella research is research about the
Foundation
and processing the news correctly
makes us can be
more merciful to other people,
namely the quantitative results, yes,
everything is not
made up, but the
quantitative results say that yes, it has a
direct impact, so if we
increase the
meaning of our suffering
to become more positive,
we will be more likely to be
merciful. yes, quantitatively,
qualitatively, if we look at the material,
our suffering is
not in vain in our lives,
because we reflect our suffering when we
see other people's requests, we
can empathize, it becomes our fuel
to care and caring, there must be a
concept, it must be there before we
carry out foreign acts of compassion,
right? Well then the results of the research
meaning This also produces inspiration
from figures who are merciful so
what is the way to process the experience of
suffering into compassion, namely
from 11 people who were then selected in
quotation marks and
asked for their help in the choice by me for
more in-depth interviews because they are
religious and belief leaders
in Indonesia and also they
practice and apply compassion and
11 people were inspired that
processing the experience of suffering will
be able to change
our experience of suffering if it is then transformed
into compassion Love is to
reduce other people's suffering. That's cool,
using suffering.
Okay, so what are the lessons
like? Well, there are 5 restores, ladies and
gentlemen, all of you, the first is
suffering with various faces. There are
4 faces. I hope you still remember what
I said earlier. it can exist without being
regulated or avoided, so
when people say that
suffering is a lot of things, there are people who say that you are
looking for it yourself, that's why they
often say that, even though there are many things
that suffering cannot be avoided,
so we can't regulate it,
so it doesn't happen. we can change it, so if the
suffering is suffering of a nature
like that and that is more
than the suffering that we can manage, what should we do? If it
can't be
changed, the learning can only be accepted
there because if
we try to change what
we can't change, yes, error becomes
a learning and this is also the message
from the participants from the results of
this research, that
we cannot avoid suffering, we cannot
manage it, that is what cannot be changed, it
needs to be accepted, secondly, an understanding
of suffering and how
suffering works is necessary to be able to
learn from experience if we
closed to the possibility that
suffering only has a negative impact
and cannot have a positive impact
then we will not be able to learn from
suffering but when we understand
suffering and how it works that how
suffering and suffering works
can be a learning module
then we can certainly learn from
experience Suffering is not
just complaining, not just complaining, not
just cursing, but being able to learn,
thirdly,
perception and meaning of
suffering determines whether in the end
we can get a positive impact
from our suffering or
witnessing other people's suffering,
for example,
whether we will only feel the
negative impact, misery,
bitterness, what is the welfare of life?
our quality of life decreases,
right? Does it stop there? Or
can we finally Oh I can
be wiser I can be a
more patient person Oh I can be a
more compassionate person as
research results say Wow, people
who interpret sufferers positively His
compassion increases,
so our perception and meaning of the
government is important for
us. Finally, we can get
to this, right up to understanding the meaning of suffering,
to accepting the positive impact
of suffering, meaning
our personal maturity is better,
now what about suffering
that is rejected like that, so avoid being cursed at
and just complaining. but if we don't process the other things,
the suffering will still be
there. Yes, if we curse suffering, it
doesn't mean that the suffering will go away, you're
like that, I'm annoyed with you, I hate that you
keep asking, it's gone, isn't it? It's
still there, right? But the
positive impact is prevented from being present. So
Is there a continuous negative impact?
Doesn't the misery decrease,
no positive impact anymore,
big losses, so that means suffering is
the yogyanya of this, don't reject it,
accept it, but process it. Well,
suffering is a life learning module that
can promote
personal maturity to become a mature person. it's
really cool and increases
compassion, that's what has been
confirmed. Well, ladies and gentlemen,
all of you friends, this is
still adult learning,
reviewing research results will
bring reflection, so we reflect on
what was researched, not a sudden reflection,
okay? But please look for
what suffering is all about. in your life
that may not have been completed yet has not been completely
processed or interpreted so it has not been
able to produce a positive impact until
now. So maybe if we had
complete random homework related to suffering,
suffering that has not been processed, please,
ladies and gentlemen, through
reflection in discussing the results.
This research can take us one step
further in relation to the suffering
that we have experienced or are currently
experiencing, meaning it's not just looking for
suffering,
the module should be ready to be
studied but we haven't yet, that's the
hope of our AV5 RDLP Research
Development Learning and Virtu we
have to get to the point of virtu, so when we
learn something or have something, it's
not just why research, it's just to
know why research, it's just
curious, why research, so just
finish the dissertation or the thesis
or thesis, that's the requirement
to be able to graduate,
dear mothers and fathers Friends, if that's
the case, yes, but let's use
knowledge research, that is, understanding what
we know then becomes
something that makes us
more wise, we learn something
and if we learn, that means there has to
be a change that is relatively
permanent. Yes, it's also called learning and
then we have to get to the virtues until
the features are like that, so
our reflection will still be Love, even though we answer it
ourselves, okay, later on, consider it a
souvenir, OK, from the results of the research in
episode 1. OK, for next, ladies and gentlemen,
the first friend is, let's find an
experience of suffering that we haven't experienced yet. process it
thoroughly, yes, if your experience of suffering
has not been processed completely, please
find it first, it is in the homework,
then secondly, then when you have
found it, oh, this is this suffering
that has not been processed, yes, thoroughly
find the inhibiting factors,
supporting factors and strengthening factors. Why do
we need completing that, yes, the
inhibiting and supporting factors are looked for and
then looking for our motives too, so
listen. Why do we need to complete
this, because this is definitely something
important, but what is that? Yes, we need to look for it,
then give it time to
process, so give it time to
complete it, of course we need it. the process
so that we can be
good, yes, in this condition, then we
can grow even more.
Happy learning and happy growth,
and ladies and gentlemen, friends, all of you
will be more compassionate, ladies and
gentlemen, this is the first episode of the
results of the meaning of safer research,
I will invite you next month, of course. There
will be an announcement again, we will have a
chat to discuss the
research results still from my dissertation,
but about fade in humanity, later in
July, we will discuss that later in
relation to fade Infinity about
trust in fellow human beings,
which will also influence
compassion for both mothers and Sir, thank you
for your time. It seems that there
are no questions in the live chat column. Hopefully the
results of this presentation are quite clear and hopefully it will
be useful for us all.
Good luck with your daily life. Happy love and good work. See you in the
next research results. Good afternoon.
