Sasquatch Country! Hiking Olympic National Park | Sol Duc Falls | Full Time Truck Camper Living

Good morning from the rainforest in Washington State. I am here on the Olympic Peninsula at Olympic National Park in the Soldeck Campground. It is September 15th and currently, unfortunately, all across California, Oregon, and Washington wildfires are raging, which is causing all of these states, including some states even to the east, to be inundated in smoke. That has really changed my plans in terms of what I wanted to do here in Washington and the trips that I wanted to do. However, my problems are small compared to those who have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and even some of their lives, so my thoughts and prayers go out to them. I thought it was a good time just to come into the trees where the smoke doesn't matter so much. It actually did rain last night, quite a bit, so I'm hoping that it cleared things out some. I do see some sunshine, which is a really good sign. So the plan today is just to hike to some waterfalls, some beautiful waterfalls through the rainforest. It should be really pretty. It should be a beautiful day and I'm excited to take a hike through the enchanted forest. It has been days. Stopping for a snack break. I have actually done this portion of the trail before, last year, coming out from my backpacking trip to the Seven Lakes Basin. We came down from Deer Lake, down this way, to the Solbeck Trailhead. That's where we started. So this is looking familiar right now. Little squirrel is pitching a fit over here because I'm in his territory, I think. I'm back at camp. I've just been relaxing and enjoying some coffee. That was an awesome hike. The first part of it, I didn't see anybody. It's called the Lover's Lane Loop. It's about six miles round trip. Didn't see anybody until I got to the waterfall and then on the hike from the waterfall back, I did see quite a few people. You can actually drive right up to the trailhead and hike about three quarters of a mile in to see the waterfall. However, I wanted to do, I wanted to go the long way. I'm glad I did. It was looking pretty promising earlier with some blue skies, some sun, although now it's looking like it's getting socked in again with, I don't know if it's clouds, smoke, or both. I'm pretty sure it's both. I'm not really sure what the plan is after this. I'll have to see how the smoke situation unfolds within the next couple of days, but I'm glad that I came here and enjoyed this beautiful hike through the Enchanted Forest.
