10 out of 10.
Oh, so tender. I can feel the tenderness.
Perfect amount of filling. Highly, highly recommend.
Original Thai coconut pancake.
You're gonna love it, trust me.
I like this restaurant.
Hey guys, today we are at Talad Noi.
It is a historic neighborhood located in the heart of Bangkok,
just a little bit to the south from Chinatown.
But this place is famous for its beautiful street art, good old cafes and more.
But today we are here to explore the local street food and I know just where to start.
All right, first stop is Daeng La Cha Hoi Tod.
Oyster and omelette, guys.
Check it.
Right, unfortunately they already run out of oyster, so we have mussels.
Instead, here since noon.
And they had me waiting for half an hour because they're very, very busy.
It's a very, very popular oyster omelette restaurant, guys.
Wow, very nice.
Juicy.
Juicy mussels.
I love it.
I mean, it's like crispy fried egg with mussels.
Crispy from the outside, tender inside.
And you have the bean sprouts to complete the taste.
I love bean sprouts.
10 out of 10.
I don't know.
It's cooked by an uncle and he's been selling for over 100 years.
I think they're on their fourth generation already.
Ancient food, must try.
Right here in my hand, we have Khoi Chai, which is chive dumpling.
Just right next to the fried omelette shop, guys.
And they sell in a trolley just right behind me.
They have many toppings inside, but I ordered the chive version and fried, all right.
Only 25 baht, two pieces, guys.
Super cheap.
Let's try.
Still hot inside.
It's so busy.
If you're vegetarian or vegan, you've got to try this one.
Or if not, you can try it anyway.
Crispy from the outside and soft and tender from the chive,
from the vegetable inside, guys, and the sauce.
The sauce is a little bit sweet and salty and you top it with this crispy dumpling.
Amazing.
This is how it looks inside.
You know, I like their name.
Khoi Chai Nai.
Like the horse.
Moving on.
All right, next stop is here.
Barbecue Red Pork Restaurant called Si Morakot, guys.
They've been open for 80 years plus, so let's go.
If you know me, this dish is my favorite.
And we have crispy pork right here.
And this is the barbecue red pork.
And these are Chinese sausages.
And eggs.
All right, we're gonna try this first.
Soft, tender pork.
Sweet.
Sweet from the sauce.
The sauce is a little bit thicker than the usual Khao Moo Dang I have tried before.
But I don't mind.
I like it.
Oh, so tender.
I can feel the tenderness from the egg.
Oh, gosh.
I have high expectation on this bite.
This is amazing.
It's so soft, guys.
It's like you don't need to chew at all.
I love that egg here.
Let me try along with the crispy pork.
Speechless.
Don't know what to say.
The egg is just 10 out of 10.
I love the egg.
I don't know how they cook it, but it's so soft.
From the egg yolk and the egg white.
Soft, like cotton.
Amazing.
How do they cook it?
How do they cook this egg?
This is braised duck in preserved lime soup.
Let me try the soup first.
Sour aftertaste.
Very nice.
This is a very Chinese soup.
Salty and sour at the same time.
It's so herbal, guys.
And I love the cilantro smell.
I feel healthy having this soup.
So I just learned that if you sit at the BBQ Red Pork restaurant,
you can come here and order the pork satay.
And they will serve you at the BBQ Red Pork restaurant, guys.
Which is very nice.
Didn't know that.
Should have done it.
Here we are.
We have our pork satay.
In Thai, we call it Moo Satay.
Alright, this restaurant is called Chong Kee.
Chong Kee.
This restaurant is called Chong Kee.
So I ordered 10 sticks of pork satay.
100 baht.
If you don't know what pork satay is,
it comes like this.
It's like...
It's like Kha Niu Moo Kwing but the pork is marinated with curry.
Curry powder and seasoning.
And this is the peanut butter sauce.
And also you have it together.
Once you dip in the sauce,
you have it together with the cucumber and onion and some chili.
Smells so good.
Tender.
Smell really nice.
Salty and sweet.
I love how they marinate it before.
It's so soft.
I have eaten pork satay all of my life.
And my grandma even used to sell pork satay at the market.
But I'm telling you, I'm not kidding.
This is very soft because usually it's pork satay.
Sometimes when you come across a random one on the street,
it's pretty dry.
It's just right.
Just like they grill the pork too long.
But this is just like the perfect amount of grilling and taste.
And just like got the textures.
Highly recommend.
Highly, highly recommend.
Just so you know, guys.
Just a little tip when you're looking for a restaurant in Bangkok or Thailand.
You don't know if it's good or bad.
You haven't watched YouTube.
I recommend you to look for the sign.
Chao Xuan Chin.
It's written in Thai but you will see like a bold sign.
Which means it's good.
It's like Michelin star but in Thai version.
So this restaurant, Chao Xuan Chin has the Thai Michelin star.
So it must be good.
I love Thai food.
All right, guys.
We're done here on this street of Talad Noi.
We're moving on to the one across the road.
Let's go.
So many food in this road, guys.
We cannot try all but I wish I can.
We are here at this hidden restaurant, guys.
And if you're not Chinese...
All right, we have to pause here for a little bit.
We have to pause here for a little bit.
You see the yellow bikes?
Here at this path, they are the tour.
They will have guides for you and they will take you bike around Talad Noi and Chinatown.
If you wonder where to take that tour, it's at River City.
I will put the location link for you in case you want to see Talad Noi riding the bike version.
All right, guys.
We are here at the hidden restaurant.
And if you're not Chinese, you wouldn't know what this dish is.
This is a stew pork leg jelly.
It is my dad's favorite.
Mine too.
So it comes in a cold version like this.
You eat it cold.
But this restaurant, they sell many dishes, guys.
But this is their signature dish.
All right.
So we have three versions of dipping sauce.
We have the sour sauce, the Chinese vinegar.
And this is the sour chili.
And this is the soy sauce.
Let me start with the Chinese vinegar first.
I'll break it in half.
The jelly is very cold.
I don't like this sauce.
I don't think it goes with the pork leg.
Let me try the chili.
So chili sauce.
Much better.
I forgot to tell you one more thing.
You can add the pepper.
It tastes just like how it looks, guys.
It's like very salty from the jelly part.
And a little bit salty from the pork meat.
But overall, it's just a jelly salty dish.
That's why I like the chili sauce better.
Because it introduces you another taste in one bite.
Not just salty.
So okay.
Let's do the last one.
Soy sauce.
This one is not bad.
You know, the heart of Thai and Chinese food is the sauce.
We are very paying attention with sauce.
My dad, if he was here, he would dip every single sauce in one bite.
We love sauce.
So this pork leg jelly, guys, costs 120 baht.
It's located like out of nowhere in Talad Noi.
It's very in a small alley.
In the area, you will see a lot of old garages and a lot of car equipment.
So if you want to try pork leg jelly, come try at this restaurant.
I would have to order some back home for my dad.
It's his favorite.
For me, personally, I would give it a 7 out of 10.
Because it's not my favorite favorite.
I like it with other food.
But I'm getting full.
I can only show you one dish.
Because we have a lot to try next.
Moving on to the next one.
I forgot to tell you one more thing, guys, about how to get here.
You can get here by so many ways.
By the ferries, by MRT, BTS, or Tuk Tuk taxi.
I will put all the information down in the description.
How much is it?
I'm so excited to show you my next stop.
It's a dessert shop.
Located at the roundabout of like a dragon shape made of spoon and fork.
This shop has been open for around 30 years.
It is Coconut Rice Pancake.
In Thai, we call it Kanok Krok.
Very famous.
If you search on Google, must try food at Talad Noi,
you're gonna see this dessert shop everywhere.
And luckily, the owner's daughter happens to be my friend.
I haven't seen her for a long time.
So, let's go.
So, this is Tuk, guys.
Sawasdee ka.
How many years have you been doing this?
This is my 34th year.
34 years.
And you're a daughter.
Yes, I'm a daughter.
A daughter.
Is it good?
Yes, it's good.
Is it good?
I'll order one box.
Okay.
Tuk has been coaching me how to...
How do you call this?
How to put the...
Coconut Rice Pancake up.
So, you're supposed to...
Slowly.
Because it's my first time.
Try not to burn myself.
I've been eating Kanom Krok my whole life.
Never once in my life done this, guys.
You know, next month, next to her shop will be my shop.
Because I already know all the ingredients and how to cook Kanom Krok.
Watch me.
Original Thai Coconut Pancake by Tuk, my friend.
My dad helped my sister sell Kanom Krok since she was in 5th or 6th grade.
At that time, Kanom Krok was hard to find.
And it was an ancient dessert.
So, I chose to make it without the filling.
So, people will know more about our tradition.
Because there are a lot of people who make Kanom Krok with filling.
So, I want to make it different.
Kanom Krok is the charm of Thai dessert.
So, I thought that after I'm done with my generation,
I want to develop it for the next generation to know Thai dessert.
And I want to continue to develop it.
Because our dessert is delicious.
And it's Kanom Krok with fresh coconut milk on top.
It's like the signature of our shop.
I want Thai people, foreigners, and the next generation to remember Kanom Krok.
The shop opens from 7 am to 3 pm.
From Tuesday to Saturday.
Yes.
The observation point is opposite to 7th Street.
And it's in front of Kanakarnepanit.
Yes.
You can call and ask.
I'll give you the number and contact.
Thank you.
One must-try food if you come to Bangkok is the fruit cart.
Like this right behind me.
They usually sell fresh fruit guys.
Like watermelon, pineapple, apple, guava.
But I want you to try this one.
I don't think many of you know what it is.
It is guava but soaked in plum juice.
So, it tastes like guava but a little bit more sour.
Like a sour plum.
Plum sour taste.
You're gonna love it.
Trust me.
If you see this vibrant green, guava.
Try.
Juicy, sweet, and sour aftertaste.
And one more thing.
It will taste like heaven if you dip in this sauce.
So, this dipping sauce is made of plum as well guys.
It's just nothing special guys.
Must try.
That's all.
This is Kanom Pang Fing.
It's basically grilled bread with variety of toppings that you can choose.
This is the basic.
Sugar with condensed milk.
And this is must try.
Which is a chili paste with pork floss or shredded pork.
So, the pork floss guys.
In Thai, we call Moo Yong.
I love pork floss.
You might see pork floss everywhere in the market.
They put it in the bread sometimes.
Or they put it in a sandwich in 7-Eleven.
Chili paste with pork floss.
Cheers.
This can be breakfast.
The chili paste is a little bit spicy.
But it's like sweet spicy guys.
And the pork floss is just sweet.
Condensed milk with sugar.
I think this shop is a very very good breakfast place guys.
Or snack between meals during the day.
Something.
Alright.
We have reached our final destination.
This is noodles shop called Kuey Teow.
Rue.
Kuey Teow means noodles.
Rue means hole.
Well, it's probably because of the entrance of this shop.
It's like a little hole.
And you have to walk inside to sit on a table like this.
The reason why they're so popular is because.
First of their noodles is flat.
And their red pork, the barbecue pork is coated with honey.
So that's why they are different from other shops.
Now I know why it's famous now.
It's just so tasty guys.
I love how they cook the noodles here.
It's flat.
It's smooth.
It just like you know melts in your mouth.
And the honey sweet barbecue red pork just complete each other so well guys.
There's no spice in this dish.
You can add the spice if you like.
I like this one.
I like this restaurant.
Really really nice.
Crispy, smooth, soft, sweet, sour.
Same time in one dish.
And you know if you notice, noodles in Thailand usually involve bean sprouts.
If you are bean sprout lovers, congratulations.
If not, then you have to tell the cook not to put bean sprouts in your dish.
This shop is out of nowhere.
Like at Talad Noi, it's like a random house.
And they have a front area.
And they decided to sell accessories.
So guys, this cute shop is actually barber shop.
But her barber is on vacation.
So the owner decided to open this cute accessory shop handmade by her.
It's very cute.
I like this kind of stuff.
And usually when I come on the street, they all look the same.
But her shop is different because she made it herself.
And I think I'm gonna buy like three or four pieces of her work.
So very nice.
This is for your legs.
But I want to make it a necklace.
She's gonna make it longer for me which is very nice.
It's elephant, guys.
Welcome to Talad Noi street art.
I actually have done an EP here showing Talad Noi cafes and the street art with Ploy.
I'll put the link down in the description.
So guys, if you're planning your day trip in Bangkok.
And you have limited time and you're on a budget.
I recommend you to start your day here at Talad Noi.
Because a lot of restaurants close very, very early.
After you visit Talad Noi, you can travel further.
North of Talad Noi which will be Samping Market.
It's a super cheap market.
After that, if you're done shopping, you can check out the Flower Market.
And enjoy the sunset at Memorial Bridge.
All three markets are next to each other, guys.
And you can end your day.
You can take tuk-tuk from the Memorial Bridge to Chinatown.
This plan should fit you and I hope I make your plan to Bangkok better.
And that's it for the taste of Talad Noi, guys.
I hope I made you hungry.
If I did, please hit like and subscribe.
And I will see you in the next one.
Bye!
