These ABG's on ABC Sparked Controversy...

so apparently ABC can't tell the difference between abgs the show The Bachelor just got two Asian contestants mixed up and people are debating they gave the credit honey to Leia for kissing the hot white guy but they should have went to gen there's no justice we got to talk about this Andrew uh The Bachelor Sparks controversy for tagging wrong Asian American contestant we're talking about the mixup between Jen Tran and Leia cenan and and this is such a trivial thing but you know trivial things especially when they involve hot ABG baddies they go viral so make sure you like subscribe and turn your notifications but you know what is another thing they need to check out smalla saw sold out for now but come back and check later also follow the Instagram account is it right to say that it sparked a controversy or is that hyperbole or is it just the internet things or what is it you know of all the news that we cover this is really not that big of a news honestly personally I don't care cuz I don't watch the show but but I will say there happens to be two Southeast Asian girls on the show they share similar features and like a similar like silhouette but they how what percentage do they look similar uh they look like they could be cousins I think they definitely look like cousins but they don't look like the same person but anyways they got mixed up um obviously in a time of like Asian representation obviously uh there's a history of other minorities like two black girls who got mixed up on the show as well by The Producers so you know it's just a really white show so they're getting the the the minority girls mixed up literally isn't the show 28 girls some of them are white some of them are Latina some of them are Asian some of them are black and they're all just trying to make out with this hot Italian guy right literally that's the premise of this season right they want to kiss Joey I don't watch the show I just know his name is Joey Jen you do you did it on the first episode you Joy he he tied the record for most first kisses you were one of them all right so here's my reach take on all this all right I'm not saying this is serious I do not care about this bachelor incident but I will say this I think it kind of speaks to the larger Dynamic of like not treating minorities with care and especially Asians where it's like they don't really care who they tag and they're just like ah Asians are whatever well like h is that her I think it's her all right whatever forget it you know so I just think that you know but who are you talking about you talking about uh potentially I'm guessing like a white intern social for social media yeah again this is not the biggest crime in the world but it's also just goes to show you that like when it comes to different types of people and minority people they don't people don't really they don't want to they don't care to be precise they don't put in that extra effort because maybe also there is no sense that there's going to be a backlash or consequence and that's why and this is my reach is that I think it's also related to how people treat like you know vulnerable Asians on the street where it's like sometimes you know crazy people will want to attack them or lash out on them because deep down they know there's no consequence basically whether you offend an Asian okay in this sense slightly offended him or you offensively hurt an Asian like physically you just don't feel like there's a consequence period or you just don't even feel like yeah you just feel like it's not an issue that needs to be treated with velvet gloves you kind of are just uh just treating it like something that you have to do but you don't really care about but but I I do think from the comments I see in the conversations I've had I think a lot of black people would feel the same way about their position too so I'm not saying everybody's the same but I definitely think that uh yeah minorities women have been mixed up on The Bachelor before right right right no it is true I mean clearly U whoever their runs their social does not have the most nuanced sensor for scanning minority faces from what I can tell um however it is true that sometimes celebrities or these in this case baddies or abgs whatever you want to call them they're kind of like quasi Glam abgs in my opinion almost have like an Italian style of makeup uh there's true that other celebrities do look like each other though Zoe de Chanel and uh Katie Perry these two girls right here have they been mixed up though would people get them mixed up on the red carpet they wouldn't Maybe not other people in entertainment but fans do oh yeah fans of course fan dude fans get us mixed up with other people David well fans Asians me and you mixed up for each other too they get us mixed up for each other and then they get us mixed up for Wong Fu and I countless others I could name but anyways regardless listen people so so basically this cuts to the core of the debate here is that yes they do look similar cousins to Sisters depending on who you are and how you're judging it but it doesn't excuse exuse it because I guess there's a lot of blonde women on that show that often times look similar do similar makeup similar contouring similar eyelashes and they never get it mixed up right because I guess the white people who would run the Bachelor on the backend social side would have a more uh nuanced sensor for what they are which is probably white sure anyway let's get in the comment section somebody said it's a white wash show no surprise here consistent for this show they're talking about all the other times that it happened other people are saying even the white girls look the same on that show but they never get you know confused for each other and of course a bunch of guys came in and said uh I'm Asian and I'm here to say who gives a ish man it's what are we even talking about all these of course I know they don't want to say it Andrew but they're probably thinking man what the hell it's just either the H Filipino girl the Jaa girl that's making out with the white guy why do I care what am I offended for them for yeah they're two uh two girls that are just trying to get with this one dude so really I think the best way to not care about this in the protest is to just not watch the show which I don't don't care um Jen Tran the girl who did the kissing and didn't get the credit for it said we look nothing alike I'm really shocked by these comments of course other people are like uh but you guys do look alike so is the fact that you can't see her face when she's kissing the dude and it's just the arm does it completely excuse it because other people were drawing this conclusion of like oh I don't want to be accusing everything of racism all the time especially when two people look the same yeah yeah no I don't think it was like a racist act I just think that people just uh are a little bit careless when it comes to identifying minorities that's that's really what I'm saying that's saying oh man I will tell you this Andrew the people when crazy Rich Asians came out they were looking at that sheet of who was who they were trembling the people had Access Hollywood oh my gosh which one was the crazy one and which one was the rich one I know Asians on the red carpet that are still getting mixed up for each other I mean David you just wore a Jeremy Lynn Jersey during the height of Lin sanity and some non-asian lady actually a white woman just say who it is it was a white woman questioned even you if you were Jeremy Lyn for a second yes I have been asked if I was actually Jeremy Lyn at thought pea L sanity which was crazy because I was like wouldn't I be way taller and needing to be at an NBA game right now why would I be at the Chinatown parade um just it just fit in her mind you know people want to see who they want to see so this leads to our next comment where these girls were basically saying not surprised I worked on a show with NBC and everybody mixed me up with another Asian girl who was like 4 Ines shorter than me I get the idea that many people only see us as our race not as individual people with unique characteristics and a bunch of people had a bunch of anecdotes you know what about this happened at my work I will tell you this it happens more in places where Asians are not common like in Tech it's going to happen less would you agree with me in stem less than in media media typically is not a field that Asians enter more Asians that you see you're going to get a better radar for them and you're going to scan their faces more precisely right so you're going to process oh this person kind of has rounder eyes or this and they do their makeup like this okay I I can make them out but sometimes they're just like Asian I used to work at a Verizon store that was managed by uh a Korean guy yo shout out to Kevin so my uh my in college Andrew yo the people the district manager used to come up to me H how's the numbers for the store this month Kevin all the time and I was like yo I'm like the lowest ranked employee here I'm just selling blackberries um what if you were like oh yeah man that David fun guy who works for us though best employee ever yeah oh give him a you know what we need to promote mode him immediately um somebody just said I'm 100% Vietnamese and I get asked if I'm Filipino all the time so these were people kind of chiming in saying uh do viets and Filipinos often get confused for each other yeah yeah especially just depending on style I mean I think for them it's maybe they didn't maybe as children they didn't look exactly alike but I will tell you this as far as like VI stylistically stylistic makeup obviously uh uh Leia's eyes are rounder and the but their cheekbones are kind of similar the contouring is very simar smile similar in these photos at least their skin tones are similar maybe they're a similar height I mean you know I don't know somebody said when are they going to include an Asian men on this show basically of course and or the comments always turn to this being like like what the f man I'm tired of like just talking about two white was Asian girls that love white guys wasn't there a half asian Bachelor no was there never uh it's possible I'm not going to lie I got to look into it um there was three other Asian girls on this season of The Bachelor Andre they were all mixed I believe there's a half Indian girl a half Chinese half Mexican girl and a half black half Filipino girl from Hawaii so those were the other uh Asians there was five Asians well you know the rough thing is about having an Asian male contestant is that less people would watch the show unfortunately so that's why they won't do it but I think they should they do it with all this D like all this diversity push why not just go Korean make him Korean it doesn't matter how crazy the Dei diversity push gets because that's still like that they're just like they're like yeah the diversity push doesn't apply to aliens why can't you just find a five there's 511 Asian guys out there come on no like a Tim Tim Jung there was Asian contestant Bachelor contestants but not the Asian Bachelor like I'm not going to lie from I think the Asian guy contestants Andrew they lost super early you know round one anyway guys um I think it's an easy mistake to make and you you could argue about like the macro takeaway versus the micro and the micro I think it's a pretty small deal but yes you could say like to your point Andrew that it is representative of a larger narrative that uh impacts all Asians not and the guys are not even in there to get confused yet but even the baddy abgs with the glamour makeup getting confused yeah you I'm going to be honest I hope like Southeast Asian women this is not the only representation they get this year you know on TV like I think they're going to get more and they should but of course this is kind of like right now I guess I don't know in 2024 the the most popular show that has them so yeah yeah actually all the girls are Southeast Asian yeah they'll get better representation I don't think there's is the best representation by the way but anyways uh guys let us know in the comments down below do you care
