Berlin means to me, first of all, a great city and because of my decision to start over new here,
big challenge for me and also big opportunity to make something, to meet new people,
discover this city and I will try to discover everything.
Vladimir Kosic was born in 1964 in Montenegro in southeastern Europe.
He grew up in a small town on the Mediterranean coast.
After school he studied business and lived in London and the Serbian capital Belgrade.
In 2013 he came to Berlin and opened a fish restaurant called Lysendro.
Kosic cooks fish the way he used to make it in Montenegro,
grilled with lots of garlic, lemon and olive oil.
Fish and preparing of dishes of seafood was my passion all my life.
I learned that from the neighbors on the sea and I always was interested for the recipes and I make
nice dinner for my friends and also my sport is free diving with the spear.
I know how the fish behave, I know what they are eating, I know where they are living.
I'm not a good cook for some other dishes but for fish and seafood I am.
Every day Kosic goes on the hunt for the finest fresh fish in the city.
He knows how to tell if it's really fresh.
Kosic's customers need to be patient.
The dishes he makes can take up to an hour to prepare.
In Berlin it's very easy to find very good fish and very fresh seafood.
I'm surprised almost it's easier to make that here than on the sea in my country because
we are a small country and we depend on the fishermen.
Here is a big market and fish from all over the world coming here.
Bussara is a seafood speciality.
The cuisine of Montenegro's Adriatic coastline is very Mediterranean.
It's full of fish, shellfish and seafood.
The name Bussara refers to the dish's characteristic tomato sauce,
which is refined with white wine.
We have one sentence to say about that dish.
You cannot be hungry after Bussara because you can eat a lot of bread with that.
There's a lot of sauce, nice sauce with all that ingredients and in history when people
don't have too much money when they catch something from the sea they make a lot of sauce
and the bread and eat.
This is the Wirmersdorf district in southwest Berlin.
It's an affluent and somewhat conservative neighborhood.
In 2016, Kosic opened a second restaurant, also called Lysendro,
in a quiet residential street here.
He spent more than three months renovating the space.
But as far as possible, he tried to keep the 19th century interior.
I like about Wirmersdorf because it's, I don't know, very calm.
I'm connected with this area, I'm connected with this place.
And it's a really, really unique old restaurant from more than 100 years old
with all unique stuff on it.
Then I simply, that was love on first sight.
Kosic varies his menu every day.
Most entrees come with grilled vegetables and salad.
Dining here is the next best thing to a vacation on the Adriatic coast.
