"Georg Philipp Telemann confessed in 1739 that Calvoer had shown him the relationship between mathematics and music. Here he learnt that a recognised scholar could think differently about music than his mother's advisors. Music was no longer a matter for jugglers and beer fiddlers; it could be divine revelation." ....
