We decided to use our WestJet companion fare and fly in premium. Some of the benefits include
two check bags, priority check-in, baggage, security screening, and boarding. Another
perk is the extra leg room and elbow room. Another benefit is you get a hot meal on the flight as
well as complimentary beer and wine. You get a muffin. Another perk to flying premium is you get the
premium snacks, not just the usual pretzel bites and cookies. Cruffles. Oh, these are good.
Roasted, salted almonds. Those are good. And your hand-toothed.
The flight from Belize City to Plasencia was about 30 minutes long.
I got to actually sit in the cockpit, which was pretty neat. We got to Plasencia pretty late, so we decided
to stay close by. We went to the Flying Pig, which was just a short walk from where we were staying.
We ordered the nachos and some Belican beers. We stayed at the Wild Orchid for four nights.
The nearest grocery store is located in Signbite, which is approximately a five-minute drive from
the Wild Orchid. So this is the room right here. You get a couch, footrest. Here you have your safe.
This is the kitchen with the TV. As you can see, you get your fridge, gas stove, toaster, coffee maker,
blender. So you get all the plates, utensils. So what we've done is we've gone into the local
grocery store and picked up some supplies. We had breakfast here. That's the view.
Here's the table. So the kitchen also has air conditioning. There's a fan right here
and a fan over there by the couch. Okay, so here's the bathroom. It's clean, decent size.
Here's the bedroom. Air conditioning and a fan right here. And this is the view.
This is the view from the bedroom. So this is a big latch here. There's a big handle.
We're right on the water. Last night it was so dark, we couldn't see anything. This is nice.
It rained. It rained last night. Everything's wet. Oh, we have not seen the ocean in three years.
Swing table. If you're looking for a quieter place to stay away from the craziness of the town,
the Wild Orchid was the perfect place to stay. We had the beach all to ourself.
There was no one there and we had all the privacy we needed. The boards, kayaks, and bikes were free
to use. Ford truck and you can see here it's from the Hobbs Brewing Company. So you've got the
Hummingbird Balisean Gold Ale, Wildcat IPA, and the Blue Marlin Coffee Stout. So it's right over
there. You see Hobbs. So if the rain doesn't stop pretty soon, I'm just gonna head over there
and try that Wildcat IPA. Yeah, the Wildcat is looking pretty good at this time. I'm thinking
we're gonna probably end up doing it. Good afternoon. I'm Janet. This is Carlos. It is
nice to meet you. Here's the menu. So we've actually ordered a flight. So a flight of
any four beers. 21 Balise. So we have the Hummingbird. We're gonna try the Hummingbird
Gold Ale and the Wildcat IPA. Here's some of the other drinks they have. Okay, let me just get to
that. So we'll try those out. You can see these other ones here. Island Dog Cream, Royal Rat,
Blue Marlin, Wish Billy Coconut Stout, Frick the Kraken Double IPA,
Tommy Goff. And then here are your appetizers. Salty Sailor Fried Pickles. And here's your
salads, entrees, and your side. Build your own. What do you think? I like this one.
Carlos is going to try the Jaguar IPA.
The first IPA. Yeah, it's different. Wow.
We decided to go say hi to my friend Tracy, who I met on my first trip to Belize 10 years ago.
Here on the Plasencia sidewalk, you'll see many bars, restaurants, and shops of interest,
including craft shops, local handicrafts, beachwear, all sorts of really neat stuff.
Later on that day, we found out that you're not supposed to ride your bike on the sidewalk.
Apologies. We're going to the Barefoot Bar to have a drink. And we're getting some nachos or
tacos. Yeah, you're getting the Wahoo Tacos, and I'm getting the Shrimp Salmute.
And now they're playing. Yeah, they're playing horseshoes here.
Salmute. We're sharing. Those are the Wahoo Tacos. What do you think? Good. Yeah.
This is a wild orchid. I found it on Booking.com. We're paying about, I believe it ends up being
about $100 Canadian a night, which is probably closer to like $70-$80 US. Yeah, and I was a
from the village, but we got our free bikes and it took us what, half an hour, maybe 20 minutes?
To Plasencia? Yeah. Yeah. A nice bike ride. Because you have to ride around the airport.
The airport, you basically have to go around it and the landing strip, which kind of,
you can't just cut across, right? But it still wasn't that bad. I mean,
we went all the way down to the dock, which is the far end of Plasencia.
Then we came back, we did walk bikes on the boardwalk because you're not allowed to ride.
I think, I think we made a good choice. Yeah. This place is beautiful. The beach is beautiful.
There's nobody around. Yeah, exactly. Look at the view. It's like, it's like your own private,
like, paradise. And you get the amenities, you get Wi-Fi, you get cable TV, you get,
I guess, maid service. It's a cool apartment too. Like, you can sit and watch a movie.
Yeah, we were watching The Hangover yesterday. Little bits of it. We're close to the grocery
store, ride the bikes, pick up some groceries, we're making our own breakfast. And this is like,
we're sitting right outside of our, outside our window. We decided to go to the top to check out
the view. See, so those are the little local cats here. Oh, they're so sweet. We've got some
cat treats. We'll bring them back. Give them some cat treats. Oh, there's Ninja. Ninja,
you're the little piggy. We're going to the second floor. So here's the second floor at the
Wild Orchid. And like we said earlier, they were renting it long term and then I think they ended
up buying the place. Now they're just cleaning it, renovating it, I think. You can basically see,
here you can see the jungle, see over here. Very nice view. It's beautiful.
360 jungle and then ocean. See, look at that. We got the goodie bag.
That's what it's called. The Felix goodie bag. Got them some treats.
Couldn't get any better than this. All right, so we're going to get some dinner.
The wild cat. Thank you. Okay, so cheers.
I like that one. So I got the fish burger and you got the fish and chips.
Looks good. Our last day in Plasencia. Okay, now you're up there. How are you going to get down?
This ought to be good. How many stops? They pick up people a lot. Okay.
And how much was the bus ride? Is it like $8 per person?
So here we are waiting for the Ritchie Brothers bus.
Thanks for watching. Please remember to like and subscribe to our channel
and stay tuned for our next video, which will be on San Ignacio.
