strength ain't easy. My son needs me to be strong. My unborn child needs me to
be strong. But it's what Elizabeth Cardenas knows. It's hard for me not to
have him here. Her husband, 24 year old juvenile Ontario had a heart of gold.
Saturday afternoon, Cardenas in Ontario were at their apartment with their four
year old son on South ST Augustine Drive. When two people knocked on the
door, they were asking for help. They were, they were wanting a plunger. The
two forced their way into the home, one showing a gun. I'm slamming the door on
his hand and I'm holding the door with all the strength that I could pull. My
husband grabbed his weapon and jumped in front of my son and protected my son
and they started shooting him. Cardenas says her husband shot back just before
falling down. He said they hit me, they hit me, I'm gonna die. I don't want to
die in here. But after being rushed to the hospital, Ontario died. We were his
everything. We, you know, we were all that mattered to him. Wednesday, the
family planned to see their newest addition. We were supposed to go here.
The heart now, my son goes to sleep crying and what am I supposed to do?
Dallas police say the suspects got away, but the investigation is ongoing. You
wanted what we have, you know, you'll never have what we, what we have, what
we will continue to have. You will never take his place, a place of love, warmth
and strength in Pleasant Grove.
