Puglia, Italy - Ticking off my Bucket List!

Italy is wonderful

Hey guys, thanks for joining me on my latest adventure. I'm in Puglia in Italy, I'm so
excited to be here. Apologies for any background noise though but I'm just sat on the rooftop
in our lovely little apartment in Poligano Amare. I probably most definitely pronounced
that wrong but this is the most spontaneous trip. Literally decided a few days ago to
come here on a girls trip and therefore my pronunciation, my research, everything is
a bit out if I'm honest. So I'm going to just write the names of everywhere on the
screen and also of course there will be a blog post to go alongside this vlog and everything's
going to be written in the description box down below. So thanks for bearing with me
by the way, I know I've been off YouTube for so long. Most of you know why so we're just
going to glide over that. It feels good to be chatting away with you again and I really
want to take you everywhere with me on this trip because I struggled to find the information
that I needed to do this trip myself. But we're here for two nights, I'm going to give
you a room tour in a minute because this is the best find ever. Honestly, like the view
of this rooftop, super super lucky. I'm kind of borderline shouting at the moment because
there is construction going on opposite us, that's the only downside but otherwise this
is honestly the perfect little find to stay in. So we flew into Bari, we drove here, it
took about an hour, we pre-booked our car and I pre-booked an automatic which I would
recommend because the roads when you get closer to here are a bit windy so it's just easier
to navigate. And yeah, here for two nights, two nights like in the main beach town centre,
the sort of insta-taggable places. It's so annoying because I really wanted to open this
vlog like in a pretty place but the noise is too much right so let's go inside. So yeah,
two nights here and then two nights out in the country and I'm just going to hopefully
show you as much as I can as and when we do it and yeah, back on YouTube excited. And
the reason that I'm completely made up and dressed up and all that jazz right now by
the way is because this is like the day after we've arrived so I can give you a tour now
but let me tell you, it is messy. But still, you'll get a vibe for the place. In fact let's
go back out and I'll do the rooftop for like a proper little tour and then I'll show you
everything else. This is the upstairs area. We have the kitchen, coffee pods were here
when we got here, fabulous. And then this is the main bathroom so you've got a shower,
toilet sink, wonderful. And then this is the rooftop. I'm sorry but is that not the coolest
view? I love this. We didn't even know it had this space to be honest but what an absolute
treat. How sick. So amazing. By the way this hotel was 198 euros for two nights. So impressed
by that. So basically less than 100 each for us. And we've each got our own room, bathroom,
like the works. Swooping past the mess, ooh and also the roses that Sophie and I were
given last night. Get us. This is the bedroom. Kind of, I mean I don't need to show you too
much, you have the wardrobe space, really wonderful mirror, FYI ladies, chair. But the
balcony once again. Every single floor has a balcony. It's so cool. Going to go and grab
some dinner now in the town near us, just literally walk out, grab something. We're
just going to grab a slice of pizza or something like that and then come back to the room ready
to explore tomorrow. Good morning. Right I feel like you literally just saw my face two seconds
ago when I was interviewing this vlog but we had dinner last night. This place, oh my goodness let
me tell you and I'm going to talk you through how to kind of plan this trip bit by bit through the
vlog but you have to stay in the town if you can because this area is very much a drive from place
to place because there's so many gorgeous spots which I hope we'll see most of them during our
trip here. But the town is just so pretty. Everything looks like something out of a movie
scene. Honestly like you have to almost touch things to check that they're real. It's so pretty
and we had every intention of just stumbling across a grab a slice of pizza, you know, grab
a bottle of beer type vibe and sit outside somewhere but we found the cutest little restaurant. We had
a little starter, we had a pasta main, a glass of lovely wine from the region and it was like 28
euros each and when I show you or when you see the setting of this place it could have easily
been like a hundred euros each and we'd have been happy to pay it. It was so pretty and then we just
grabbed a drink at a bar, came back to the flat and slept and woke up and here we are. We're ready
to explore today. We are gagging to get in the water, wander around the town, grab a pizza for
lunch because you know we're in Italy and then this afternoon we're going on a boat trip. So yeah
prepare to see lots of the sea and lots of excitement as we jump in it.
So as I said at the beginning of the video about renting a car it really is a must because even
things like coming on a boat trip we had to drive and park to come to the place where they
pick you up on the boat so yeah it really is a must. I've not seen one taxi while I've been here.
Definitely get an auto though because the roads are nice and tight and spindly but yeah I found
these guys on Instagram so you can either do a private tour where it's like just you two on the
balcony and construction started as standard. That was really good let me tell you like so
worth 30 euros. So you just go up and down the coastline and you go into a couple of the little
caves. There's nothing like crazy wow factor but it's just really nice seeing the coastline from
the sea out you know and we drove past the restaurant that we're going to tonight. I'm
so excited about this by the way. I've been wanting to go to this restaurant since you know when you
see something on Instagram you're like one day I'm gonna go there. This was like me like five years
ago and turns out it's literally like two minutes walk from from here so very excitingly we're gonna
go there. We don't have a hairdryer though neither of us packed one so we're just gonna sit up here
and let nature do its thing and then yeah go for dinner. Good morning from me and my messy bed.
So um wonderfully perfect timing wise my GoPro conked out on me whilst we were having dinner
but let me tell you it was everything. It was the dream dinner that I had imagined it would be
and I would do it all over again it was so nice. Guys I'm gonna insert any sort of clip that I
have because we were taking like Instagram you know reels and videos and pics and whatnot so
even though they're gonna look really weird just like centrally on the screen right now it's just
to show you how gorgeous this restaurant was because it really was amazing. Also the food
delicious so it was 195 euros per person but you got three courses you could choose three savoury
courses or like a starter uh main and dessert we went for the the savoury and everything was
amazing. Obviously I had veggie, no complaints, we had a bottle of wine, the service was really
really good. We had a couple of like rude people when we were trying to take pictures on the
balcony but I mean let's just let them live their lives and they know who they are um but yeah it
was honestly amazing and so nice that we could just walk there from here. Highly recommend it
it's a once in a lifetime dinner reservation for sure and yes it is pricey but genuinely for the
ambience for the food quality the service I really do think it was absolute value for money
like genuinely I've spent more in a London restaurant and not had anything like you know
that kind of atmosphere um really really great and definitely try and do what we did in terms
of getting there for sunset because we just had like seven million different colours throughout
the night of all of the sky you know like it went from pink and then it went to this really beautiful
like hazy orange then it went to that midnight blue like yeah all round great night loved it
sorry I didn't film as much as I wish I could have um but today we're actually leaving this
hotel so we're gonna have a little wander around right now grab a coffee um and then drive to
Ostuni but we actually have like a four hour gap in between checking out of here and into our new
place so where we're going to explore we're not quite sure we're going to sit at breakfast because
the wi-fi here is is terrible we're going to sit at breakfast and like work out whether to go to
another beach another town but uh obviously I'll keep you guys informed and uh off we go for a
coffee first of all every street I swear honestly like a film set so I know I've already put some
videos in this vlog so far as we've been walking through this town I've mentioned how pretty it is
but now just like face-to-face action this is the prettiest little town it's so cute all of
the buildings all different colors and yeah okay so I know now we're heading out to the view of
that beautiful uh beach that we were at yesterday but yeah just every street is like film scene
worthy like all the little alleys all the little windows even like the way they put the pants
down the balcony so cute so cute oh do we have a few to ourselves
she's a walking she's a walking we actually just stumbled across as we were walking this
cute little restaurant and there is a five euro cover charge however the view
is quite something so we were more than willing to pay for it
okay
good morning um so last time I was chatting to you was when we were leaving Poligano Amare
and we are now in Ostuni we're staying in this really lovely little country retreat I'll then
show you around in a minute but yesterday we had time to kill because check-in here was like four
o'clock and we left there at 10 so we decided to go to a beach we just hit up google for like the
best beach club because we really wanted you know the setup we wanted the lounges we wanted to be
able to order food and drinks and that kind of thing because we knew we were going to be there
all day so the one that we found had the best reviews was Porto Cesario and my goodness were
those views or reviews rather correct it was insane it's like a little Maldives beach in
Italy it was beautiful um took us about an hour and a half to drive there and then an hour drive
back to here but yeah I highly recommend it we paid a minimum spend for the bed so you can use
it on food and drinks and towel hire and that kind of thing but honestly the water and it's really
warm as well and it's crystal clear highly highly highly recommend so yeah we're going to come back
and relax here in the afternoon um but yeah really nice the only thing I would say we had a bit of a
snafu when we booked in and I'm only sharing this not to be somebody that's you know moaning about
the resort but just to like let you guys know if you book a villa with two bedrooms it doesn't
automatically give you access to the two bedrooms so when we arrived here they blocked one of the
rooms so bizarre so basically they say that if you book if you want the two bedrooms you have
to pay like the four person price which is madness to us because you'll see when I give you a little
room tour let me step out the light for a second that it's a two-bed villa so it's like why would
we book one room within the villa so that was weird so when you're booking via booking.com
you have to specify that you want both of the bedrooms apparently we ended up paying I think
another 100 euros for them to just open the room madness um is what it is at this point but yeah
I'll give you a little room tour when it's tidier because we slept there and we're about to head into
town top tip definitely come early it is a Saturday however and it's like 11am at this point
we didn't realize how far it was a and b we did not anticipate it I feel like when you see here
in all of the guidebooks on instagram like it looks like a very white washed desolate town
but it's actually really vibrant and fun and there's loads of little shops and cafes right
we've just gone from scene to scene it's gonna make no sense but trust me when I tell you it
makes no sense to me either we had to leave the Trulli that we're in in Ostuni because of a huge
confrontation with the owner um quite a scary one if I'm honest and uh one that we will be
reporting to booking.com and that's all I'm gonna say about it because I'm a lady um but yeah we
ended up moving our Trullis we're now in Albarabero what happened was because this is now the morning
after that I'm chatting to you about it we left the villa um abruptly booked another place
and then we went for dinner in Ostuni which was really really pretty
we went to one of the very famous restaurants it was amazing and you can't book a reservation there
so you have to just rock up we waited for half an hour which was fine because we just got a drink
in a nearby bar um the food was amazing it's like a I want to say tapas but obviously that's
sacrilege because we're in Italy aperitivo there you go that's the word I was looking for so it's
an aperitivo you get just like snacky food but amazing hearty like decent grub you know it was
really nice and then we had of course an aperitivo we had a prosecco um like mint mix but really
pretty highly recommend it it was cold and it was windy but we powered through and it was super
super pretty and then we drove to our new booking um so we're here now in Albarabero which is a
really gorgeous unesco world heritage site we are in the center and we booked this super last
minute it's so cute it's like a two-bedroom truly it's called truly vacation i'm going to give you
a little tour of the room now this one was 176 pounds um for the two bedrooms however that's
technically for four people so it is definitely um a thing with these villas or the trulies um
in Italy that if you want the two bedrooms you have to pay for the two bedrooms so yeah so 176
pounds for one night but technically for four people and it's really freaking cute though let
me give you a full on tour this is the kind of like in the living room bedroom that's where I
slept and it was so cute because look you've got this amazing like dome above you as you're sleeping
little window bed was super super comfy and then this is the bedroom same sort of vibe
which I really like because you know when you stay somewhere with a friend or if you were
two couples you kind of both want this experience of waking up in the dome so I really love the
fact that both bedrooms have that and then this is the entrance I'll show you in a minute
so you can see we're right in the center this is the kitchen area super cute
you've got teas and coffees coffee making machine and teas all of our luggage this is
the bathroom which I really really love nice hot warm shower and toilet bidet that leads out to
like a tiny little courtyard area and then this is the living room space how cute so yeah we
certainly lucked out with a very bad situation turned in a great one because I've always wanted
to stay like always wanted to stay and a little truly so yeah this was our last night staying
here so it worked out kind of nice even though the experience was very traumatic but yeah that's
actually the end of the vlog now because we are going to drive back to the airport so thank you
for joining me on this adventure and it certainly was one I feel like the vlog was all here there
all over the place but any questions or anything like that then obviously comment I will be writing
a blog post which is going to be far more detailed so we'll have like a step-by-step of where we
stayed and all the names of the restaurants the name of car hire like the information that I
would want if I was trying to recreate the same trip but yes off we go to the airport now thanks
for watching bye
