The Match That Made Real Madrid Buy Cristiano Ronaldo

So United looking for a 12. Ronaldo in the central role that he enjoys. Where's Brown? Lots of... Ronaldo. So dangerous in this position. Ronaldo. Ronaldo will get it back though. Courtesy of Scholes. Flying there. Ronaldo. Nani. Ronaldo. James thought about coming. Ronaldo's quick for him. Cristiano Ronaldo is unstoppable. What a finish. The finish of a centre-forward. It's yet another goal for Cristiano Ronaldo. 26 for the season. Within the first 10 minutes, 1-0. What about the pass? What about the little bit of football from United? What about the little pass from Nani? What's that lovely little touch? I tell you, he does well. He's at a horrible angle. He does everything right. He takes his time. Where am I going to put it? Love the little ball through from Nani. Nobody's going to catch Ronaldo because of his pace. It's a positive, attacking start from United. You can feel there was a goal coming. That is brilliant, that. And the ball, oh. Not as good as this one, was it? No, but you'll admire his play. You won't want to, but you'll admire it. Carrick. Oh, Ronaldo. A bit of space from here, he must feel he can score every opportunity. Was he taken down there by Sol Campbell? Yes, he was, and I guess he's going to take this free kick. I wonder. No, but that's a great bit of play between him and Rene. Great bit of play. He just lays it off to... Here he comes. Oh, can you believe the genius of this man? What a hit. David James stood like a statue, and already United are two up, both from Cristiano Ronaldo. Well, you look at David James, you hold your hands up and you say, Unstoppable. I thought he might have kept that low, he doesn't. Even I don't know what he's going to do. That is tremendous, that. That is tremendous. Look at the power. Oh, different class. It's a Ronaldo. Oh, through to Park, good vision. Oh, just that little fraction too much. Just that little fraction in Park there. Carrick, flag has gone up now, and up. Park, Ronaldo, white shirts following him. Battenter, Rooney, Ronaldo, Rooney! Oh, he's trying to tip it over the goalkeeper. Real what then in the act, Wynne? Great stuff. Brown, Ronaldo, Premier League, scores. Ronaldo. Control there, Ronaldo. Takes on Johnson, away by Campbell. Diarra in quickly, and a bit of a hint of two-footedness about that challenge on Scholes. Well, that's the soul of the boot, and I'm delighted it's come into the English game as. Ronaldo, Scholes, Ronaldo, Rooney. Everyone says, it's taken late there, it's taken out by Davis. A little bit of a late challenge. You know, it's one of those touches, the touch that Paul had, it tempts you to hang to it. What is the magician going to produce this time? Oh, James had to make the save. What did I just say to you? He had to make the save. What did I say to you? You want someone on top of the goalkeeper just in case he handles it. Ronaldo, Park's in here, out comes James Reddick. Carrick, Ronaldo. Movement's terrific. Nani? Terrific. Oh, Evra on the overlap, this is great stuff. Evra, Wayne Rooney, didn't get hold of it properly. What a goal it would have been. Why did he not score? Why did he not score? What great play. Brilliant. Rooney, Ronaldo, back, onside, Rooney. Here's the Frenchman, he's not going to hit one, is he? Oh, it took a deflection, I think, and James has collected it. Yeah, I think the deflection as well took all the pace out of it. I think it was distant. Scholes, oh, Ronaldo, it's not going to be a hat-trick, is it? Oh, it's a good challenge, actually, from Johnson. Yeah, there should have been a bit of support there, Cristiano. There should have been somebody alongside him, just in case. Rooney. Park, oh, he's going through, he's being pulled back. He's being pulled back by Camero. He'll get booked for that. They're so quick at you. Look, five red shirts going forward here. Distant in this game so far. Ronaldo, Rooney, oozing with confidence here. Here's Evra again, inside the box, Rooney wants it. Oh, he's mis-kicked it, totally. Does he think his foot was clipped there? I mean, great play between him and Nani down that left-hand side. That's how they're doing. United got another goal. Is he going to hit one? Oh, he finds Ronaldo. Rooney's in the centre. Good clearance behind him for a minute. Yes, he did. He did. Park goes in. Oh, he's offside. Ronaldo is offside. He's offside, Ronaldo. Oh, that was good football again. I'm not so sure you could... You had to be caught off there, Cristiano. Did you not see along the line? Yeah, this fella's enjoying himself as well, Michael Karp. Evra, Ronaldo. Football looks so easy. Tamaro. Oh, lets in Ronaldo. Nani's up with him. Ronaldo takes on Distan. Here's Nani. Nani's still going onto his left foot. Oh, if he hits the target, he scores. Rooney alongside him, screaming for it as well. Oh, he's not happy there. If he hits the target, it's a goal. Portsmouth. Ronaldo, direct running at the heart of that Portsmouth defence. Can't get the ball off him. Nani. Ronaldo. Is there another sting in the tail at the end of this first half? Ronaldo with a few party pieces. Sculls. Halftime. It's one of the most complete 45 minutes of attacking football you'll ever see. Cristiano Ronaldo. Welcome back. Portsmouth have reacted to their sculls. Ronaldo. It's in here, isn't it? Campbell and Rooney together. Oh, Rooney's there. He's missed it. Oh, never got enough on that. Oh, needed an extra touch. Ronaldo going through the middle again. Glides away from Campbell. That's another goal. Ronaldo. Nani. Back to Carrick again. Ronaldo. It was great one time. Steadfine to Ronaldo. Oh, Rooney and Ronaldo linking brilliantly. Ronaldo. Oh, that's Ronaldo. Free kick surely. Oh, not given. Ronaldo stayed down here. Still down Ronaldo. Looks in trouble. And Portsmouth sportingly put it out of play. And Ronaldo. Here's Ronaldo. Nani. Ronaldo. Oh, he plays in Nani. But Johnson cleared. As Anderson shakes off Diarra. Rooney. Rooney against Campbell. Oh, Rooney and Campbell. A good battle. Well, Rooney goes in there. Wins it back. Ronaldo. This could be the hat-trick. Oh, he scuffed it. He's human. I thought Campbell originally. Here he comes. Ronaldo. Oh, Fletcher not even in the squad. Thanks. Good to see you, Rooney. Three against three. Ronaldo. Park. Rooney on the outside of him. Here is Wayne Rooney. Rooney. Onto his right foot. Rooney. Straight at James. Straight down his throat. He was looking for a bend and into the far. Well, they're enjoying the play of United. That's why there's a lot of noise. It's the way United are. He's made 50 yards. Ronaldo. Nani. Further hands there. Oh, dear me. Couldn't quite reach Park either. That was looking for it. Ronaldo. Oh, outstanding. Look at that. MD wide, MD wide. Anderson and Rooney up with him. MD wide. Anderson. Oh, I thought he was going to put the ball on the other side of him. Here's Ronaldo. Oh, that's a great ball to Rooney. Here comes Park. Oh, and blocked by James from Nani. You know, the unselfishness of Wayne Rooney. The unselfishness. United are going to make a double substitution, by the way. Tevez and Hargreaves are going to come on. Oh, Ferdinand. Oh, he won't want to come off, Rooney. You can bet your life on that. And that man will want a hat-trick as well. He'll be annoyed. But... Nani. Oh, that's moving. Oh, dear me. The ball was swerving viciously. He'll be thinking, that's one of mine, that. That's going to show it's our hat. He's begging to be hit. Park. Another one, he just can't keep it down. He's going to get there, you know. Anderson. Good effort. What's another half chance if he keeps that down? He plays in Tevez. Can Tevez wrap it up? Good save by James. The angle's right for the goalkeeper. Anderson in. A great work by the Brazilian. Anderson! Deserves a goal! Oh, dear me, that's brilliant play, isn't it? That's brilliant play. Well, if there is such a thing as a 2-0 thrashing, that was it. United go back to the top of the Barclays Premier League. And once again, he's the hero. Cristiano Ronaldo with both goals in the first 15 minutes. The first a neat finish after a good link-up play with Nani. The second a quite stunning free kick.
