(Laliga 2023/2024): Highlights REAL SOCIEDAD - VILLARREAL

So Friday night football takes us to the Basque Country tonight. It's a good attendance it seems this evening here at the Reale Arena. It's helped on and just cleared off the line. Played back across again and Jorgensen can come and claim. But that was a clear chance. Ola Sarrasti tries to play it first time. It's picked off by Ilya Sakomak now who shifts onto his left foot. He finds Gonzalo Guedes. Lovely back heel and that's a brilliant save. What a reaction save that was from Ramiro. Many years of history. Marcelino, his sides are brilliant on the counter attack. But they've just taken the lead here from a set piece. Arguably against the run of play. Villarreal have the lead at the Reale Arena. Simple corner to win at home. Any way possible. Maybe they have a chance to equalise here now as Takekubo tries to go for the shot on his left foot. Gets it on target. Played by the Real Sociedad. Back line. Poor pass there though. Baena wins it back cleanly in the box. Lobs it across now and the touch. And it's 2-0. It's Santi Comiseno once again. Villarreal showing that they can score the goals. Coming clearer week by week what their game plan is. They're executing it to perfection here tonight. As Mosqueda plays a good ball back here for Ilias. It's deflected wide at the back post. From this set piece. It's a free kick from a long way out. It's on target. Or it seemed like it was. Just wide at the front post. Villarreal throwing men forward again now. It's Javi Galan who plays it back across. Looking for Sadiq. A shot from the edge of the penalty area. Villarreal finds Kubo. Does well to get round Cuenca. Chips it across. Looking for Sadiq. It drops for Thuby Mendy. The layoff. It's Jorgensen again. And now Medina in it. Game on. Four minutes left to play. Plus stoppage time. And maybe. He's not got a teammate in support but he gets into the box. Now it's Jose Luis Morales. Ball play to the back post. The header. And it's a familiar face. Comes in. Headed away. And the shot on the volley on target. The referee was about to whistle for the end of the game. Villarreal outwitting Real Sociedad. And the final score is Real Sociedad 1, Villarreal 3.
