Zi Han Regarded Non-Greed As a Treasure
Zi Han was a virtuous minister in the country of Song during the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC). Once, a man in the country of Song obtained a piece of beautiful jade and donated it to Zi Han, but Zi Han refused to take it. The man said, "I have shown it to the jade craftsman, and he thought this piece is a treasure. This is why I dared to donate it to you." Zi Han responded, "I regard non-greed as a treasure. You regard the beautiful jade as a treasure. If you give me the jade, then both of us will lose our treasures. So it is better for each of us to keep our own treasure."
