48 HOURS IN PARIS - How to See All the Sights & Sounds in 2 Days!

For 16 days, my wife and I traveled from London to Rome, visiting four other cities
in between, and the second city that we visited was Paris.
If you haven't watched my London vlog, please go back and watch that one first, as that's
the beginning of our trip.
And then we took the bullet train down to Paris and spent maybe about two-ish days in
Paris.
So this whole vlog is primarily going to be about Paris, and then I will do the other
cities in another vlog.
So I'm going to just go on a day-by-day itinerary of what we did, show you what we did with
some footage that I got, and then I'm going to rate some things that we saw.
I'm going to honestly explain what we loved, and also truly what we hated about this trip,
because I want to give a full transparency on our experiences, and just so you guys know
what to expect as well if you decide to visit these cities.
Of course, this is just our experience, everybody is going to have a different experience.
So what I experienced, I am not saying it is going to be the same or has been the same
for you.
So if there's something that I didn't like that you loved, don't burn me in the comments.
Everybody just has a different experience.
So day one, we woke up early in London and got to the train station and took the bullet
train from London to Paris.
It was only about two-ish hours, it wasn't so bad, it was pretty nice.
Then when we got to the Paris train station, we took an Uber from the train station to
our hotel.
The name of our hotel was Le Nest Hotel, and we honestly really loved this hotel, it was
very nice, and I'm going to talk about that later in the video.
So once we got to the hotel, we just kind of dropped off our stuff, rinsed off from
all the dirtiness and sweatiness, and then we just headed on back out to explore.
And we had a tour for this museum, I might mispronounce it, but I believe it is pronounced
Musée d'Orsay, and it was a really cool, fun museum to see.
Just these awesome paintings, it was beautiful, and it was a really great start to our trip.
So I would suggest this museum if you are looking for things to do in Paris, it was
really fun.
And then afterwards, we just stopped in the café in the museum and got this delicious
looking quiche, and some treats, and coffee, and so just to eat something.
I was pretty baffled by some of these paintings, so if you do really enjoy art, this is a really
cool museum for you to go to.
After that, we just kind of walked around and did some sightseeing.
We did go down to the Notre Dame because we really wanted to see that building, so it
was really cool and surreal to see that.
And then walked down to this bookstore, it is called Shakespeare and Company, it is a
very popular bookstore down in Paris, and they for some reason didn't want you to record
inside the store, I don't really know why, it was kind of just nothing super amazing,
it's just like a bookstore, so that's why I didn't get any footage of the inside, but
this is what the outside of it looks like.
So that was fun, and after that we kind of went more closer to our hotel, and then stopped
by this café slash bar that was serving drinks, and it's really cool how they set up their
bars and some restaurants in Paris, how all of the chairs and tables are like looking
out to the street, and it was just very different to see something like that, because typically
at restaurants the tables are either all just like inside, or they are outside, but they're
just like facing the table, but here they're all like facing outward towards the street.
So we got some really really good drinks there, we both got two each because they were so
good, but I don't really remember what they were called, but they were just kind of these
like fruity type of cocktails.
And then there was a restaurant right next door that we went to for dinner called The
Little Italy, and this restaurant was very delicious as well, I got a pizza, and Kayla
and my wife got this, I believe she got a carbonara, I could be wrong, and we also got
this focaccia bread on the side, this was a really great start to our trip, the dinner
was really good, I really did like this dinner here.
And then after that we just went back to our hotel because we were wiped for the day, and
we went to sleep, and then started the next day.
When we woke up that morning we went to this area called, I believe it's pronounced Monmarche,
it has a lot of fun little shops where we got some souvenirs, and then we went to a
very popular place they have called Carette, and it is a hot chocolate place, and we actually
thought we were going to one of their big sit down places, but this was actually just
like a little cafe stop, where you go and you get it, and it's just like in a little
to go cup, so we didn't really get the full experience of their very famous hot chocolate,
but it still was like very delicious, and we got a crepe with it as well, that was good,
and I think we got a quiche as well, which was super good, so it was still really cool
to stop in there and try Carette.
And then we quickly had to get to our tour of the Louvre museum because it was pretty
far from where we were at, so we kind of had to run to get to the underground subway, and
then to get to the Louvre, but thankfully we had these skip the line tickets that we
were a little late for, but they still let us use them, thank god, because if you don't
have skip the line tickets, the line is insanely long, like probably two hour long wait, so
if you do want to hit up this museum, I highly suggest getting skip the line tickets, or
you are going to be waiting for a very long time to get into this museum, because it is
probably the most popular museum that they have there, of course it has the Mona Lisa,
a lot of Michelangelo paintings, and so it's just a very popular place, and I'm very glad
that we went to this museum because it was just amazing, it was probably one of the coolest
parts of the trip.
We first stopped in one of their little cafes called Angelina, and got this really yummy
like chocolate mango-y type dessert, I don't know what kind of dessert it was, but it was
very good, and a coffee as well, just to like have just a little something to eat before
we go on our tour, and then after we of course ate at the cafe, we then started our tour.
This museum was super amazing, I'm really glad that we went on the tour of this museum,
and then we saw the Winged Victory, and we saw Venus de Milo, and we saw Liberty Leading
the People, and it was just super amazing and crazy to see all this amazing artwork,
and then of course, of course, had to go see the Mona Lisa.
Chestnuts in blossom, the tree...
I did hear a few people say like it's kind of an underwhelming thing to see it, but honestly
like it's pretty surreal like once you're there, like of course you do have to wait
in this insanely long line of like probably a hundred something people, but the line does
go fairly quickly, you are kind of shoulder to shoulder like very cramped in there, but
thankfully once you get to the front, they kind of rush you a little bit because there
is so many people, but it does help the line go faster, so once you get there, you're able
to get your amazing photos because you're able to get pretty close, so that was pretty
cool.
I was worried that like we were only going to be able to see it from a further distance,
but if you do stand and wait in the line, you are able to get up super close as you
can see in my footage here.
We were able to get really close, get some selfies, some photos, and even though I did
say they rush you, like they don't rush you like too much, like you're not like five seconds
out the gate.
You probably get like a minute or two to really get some cool photos and stuff.
So yeah, loved this museum, highly suggest it, I would give it probably like a 9.5 or
10 out of 10 because we've really enjoyed this part of our trip, and then afterwards
we went to this very popular macaroon place because it is inside of the same building
as the museum.
I believe it's called La De Ré, I could be wrong, I believe that's how it's pronounced.
So yeah, we went to La De Ré, this macaroon place, I believe my wife said it was, this
place was mentioned in like Gossip Girl or something like that, I don't...
I was in Paris, only to get your favorite macaroons.
Freaking hell, I can't keep up with these shows, but yeah, they were really good.
If you're looking for good macaroons, this is a place you want to try out.
But honestly, like, I feel like the US does do a pretty decent job at macaroons as well
because I didn't notice an insane difference between the two, that was just my experience.
So anyways, after we were done at the museum, we of course went up to the top level to see
the pyramid and to get some awesome pictures.
This was a really cool place if you want some really awesome photos and videos and stuff,
so it was really cool to see the pyramid there.
After that, we did a little bit of shopping, we went to this really crazy like perfume
place, it was like super fancy and they allow you to like smell all of them and stuff.
Perfume and cologne is like a very popular thing in Paris, so they like take it very
seriously there.
So I don't remember the name of this place...
Hey babe, what was the name of the perfume place in Paris?
She says no clue, it was all in French, so I don't really remember the name of it, so
you could probably look up the pictures here that I show on the video.
And then once we were done walking around, we took our truck to the Eiffel Tower, of
course, and this was our first time seeing the Eiffel Tower.
Again, like I said, I thought I'd be like a little underwhelmed, I'm not sure why, I
was just like having a little bit of lower expectations, but our driver actually took
us to a cool like different angle than most people see, it was kind of in the the back
side corner, and it was actually a really awesome angle for us to get good photos and
videos and stuff like that, so I really liked where we started, and it was just amazing
just to look up at this crazy structure, and it's higher than you think, and we didn't
go up in it, we just didn't feel the need to, I know that's a thing a lot of people
want to do, so if you do want to do that, you can go up in the Eiffel Tower, we just
chose not to, we just wanted to see it.
So yeah, we got to see the Eiffel Tower, then we went around to the front as well to see
the front of it, and yeah, it's the Eiffel Tower, it's amazing, it was a really awesome
just thing to see, and right off, check off of our bucket list.
And then it was time for dinner, and we had to get to this place super early because it
is so famous, and it is all over TikTok as well, I can't even really pronounce the name,
so I'm just going to put it right here, because I don't want to butcher it, but we got there
probably 30 minutes before they opened, and there was already an insane line, thankfully
it wasn't too long to where we couldn't get in, I think we got like one of the last seats
or something like that, but we are so happy that we went to this place, this was probably
our top one or two favorite meal out of the entire Europe trip from London to Rome, you
want to try this place out, the steak looks kind of funny, I didn't even mention what
we ate there, they serve solely just steak and fries, that's all they serve, you sit
down, they get you your wine, they get you some bread, and then they bring out the steak
and fries, that's all that they serve there, and it was phenomenal, the steak was so good,
cooked so well, and they're very famous for this sauce that they put on top of the steak.
Now, I will say when I looked at videos of it, it didn't really look that like amazing
to me, and the sauce looks kind of funny, but once you eat it, I promise you, it is
one of the best steaks that you will have, it was so good, we loved this place, and the
fries, interesting side choice for steak, but it works, the fries were super crispy
and super delicious, so we loved those as well, and they literally bring you seconds
if you're done with your first serving, and you want seconds, like they will bring you
more steak, they will bring you more fries, until you're pretty much finished, so this
place was awesome, we loved it, I think it's on the pricier side, but it is so well worth
it.
They also had dessert as well, we got this like chocolate brownie slash cake thing with
ice cream on top, and then a tiramisu, the dessert was amazing as well, so all around
this was just an awesome experience, and we just loved this dinner.
After dinner, we went back to the Eiffel Tower, because we of course, it was night time, and
we had to see it light up, just like everybody loves to do when they're in Paris, and it
was actually really cool, we really enjoyed that, to see the light show on the Eiffel
Tower, and then once we were done with that, we were pretty wiped.
So, we took an Uber from the Eiffel Tower to our hotel, and that was our short and sweet
Paris trip, we did not get too much time in Paris, and I honestly could have done quite
a few more days there, it was a really awesome trip, unfortunately we only were able to manage
to squeeze in a couple days before we had to head on down to our other parts of the
trip as well, but I'm going to rate each section.
So I'm going to rate the transportation, the food, the shopping, the things to see, the
hospitality, and the weather.
So first off, the transportation.
The transportation in Paris is pretty good, it was not as easy or as good as London, in
my opinion, I believe London had the best transportation out of all of the cities, but
it was still pretty good.
I had a little issue with my underground Paris ticket not working, even though we paid for
three days, and it was supposed to work, so I had to go to their customer service window,
and she didn't speak English, so there was a bit of a language barrier there, and so
it was kind of difficult to get them to get the ticket to work, but eventually she, like,
re-scanned it or something, and then I was able to get it to work again.
So their underground, to me, is pretty similar to London, just a little more difficult to
navigate, of course, everything is in French there, and it's in London, everything's in
English, so London of course is going to be easier, but we were able to manage our way
through and finally kind of figure it out, so not too bad.
And then we didn't really try any of the other public transportation, I think they do big
buses as well, kind of like London, so if you want to book something like that, you
can do that.
And then of course they have Uber and another app called Bolt, so if you want the convenience
of not having to navigate public transportation and just want someone to pick you up, it of
course is going to be more pricey, but sometimes we found out it is very well worth it if you
are just so wiped at the end of the day and all you want to do is get to your hotel or
your Airbnb very quick and you don't, like, feel like walking 30 minutes or taking the
underground, Ubers are well worth it in my opinion, so if you have the budget for it,
I suggest adding a little Uber budget in there.
The food in Paris I would give a 9.5 out of 10, we of course weren't there for too long
so didn't get to eat too much food, but we were able to have two dinners and some treats
and stuff like that, and we pretty much enjoyed everything that we had there, so if you're
wondering if the food is good in Paris, we really enjoyed our food there.
The shopping is also really good in Paris, I'd probably rate that a 9, probably 9, 9.5
out of 10, there's lots of things to shop for, designer things, souvenirs, there's everything
you could really want to shop for in Paris, so if you're looking to do that, they have
everything, they're very into their fashion, so if you like that, shopping for that, so
lots of shopping to do in Paris.
The things to see in Paris I would give a 10 out of 10, and we weren't even able to
manage to see everything while we were there, like for example we wanted to go up and see
the Arctic Triumph, we were able to see it from a distance because we were crossing the
street to get to somewhere, and we could see it down the street, so we at least got to
see it, but we didn't get to go up and see it, but everything there is super cool, the
buildings are amazing, the paintings are awesome, and it's just a really cool experience,
so lots of things to see, 10 out of 10.
The hospitality, and this is our specific experience at this specific hotel, the Le
Nest Hotel by Suite Inn, we did really, really like our hotel, we liked the cool little view
of the building that was outside of our hotel, we liked our room, the room was a little small,
so if I were to rate the size, I'd probably drop the rating down to a 9 out of 10, because
the room was pretty small, but I think that's kind of standard for a lot of places there,
but there's a lobby with a breakfast, you do have to pay for the breakfast, which is
a little unfortunate, but you do get pretty decent free coffee, and the bed was actually
very comfortable, it was actually one of the more comfortable beds that we had on
our whole trip, so did get some good sleep there, and yeah, so we did really like our
hotel in Paris.
Also the staff, super sweet and nice as well.
And then lastly, I would rate the weather.
The weather in September in Paris is still pretty, pretty warm, it is definitely not
like summer hot, like 100 degrees, but it was in the 80s and 90s, which doesn't sound
bad until you're standing in it and walking around all day long in it, it was pretty hot.
After each day we were pretty like sweaty, gross, and grimy, so September is still a
pretty warm month.
If you're looking to go to Paris in September, I'd maybe suggest at least the end of September,
it could still even be warm then, but we were there in the beginning of September, and it
was still pretty fairly warm, and I don't know how you guys do these summer trips, like
honestly if you go to any of these in Paris or Italy or whatever in the summer, I think
you're a psychopath, because it is absolutely hot in the summers, and you are out there
all day long, I don't know how you do it, I wouldn't have been able to do it, because
even in September, which is supposed to be cooler than July and August, we were pretty
hot and sweaty, and it kind of sucked at times.
And lastly, I'll finish off with a little bit of harsh truths about Paris.
People have already kind of explained this as well, I found on TikTok and other things
like that, Paris is a fairly dirty city.
It's not the filthiest that we've seen, but it is a kind of dirty city, just like trash
and dirt and things like that, so just be expecting that when you get there, London
was definitely a cleaner city than Paris.
Also, another thing is, everybody smokes there.
Everybody.
For breakfast, we'll do something cool, like have a cigarette and a bar of chocolate, and
then we'll go for lunch, and lunch is usually something cool, like a cigarette and two or
three bottles of red wine.
So if you're not a fan of the smell of cigarette smoke or anything like that, just prepare
yourself, because everybody around you is smoking.
To me, it was like 90% of people is everywhere, so just be expecting that.
So yeah, other than that, we did really enjoy our little, tiny couple days in Paris.
I would definitely go again to see some other things that we missed out on, and I hope that
if you are planning on visiting Paris, that this video was very helpful to you.
Again, subscribe to my channel to see all of the other cities that I will be making
videos on.
It will be London, Paris, Zurich, Switzerland, Lucerne, Switzerland, Florence, Italy, and
Rome, Italy.
So this is the Paris one.
Hope you enjoyed it, guys.
See you in the next one.
